Or OP needs to understand this is a FOOTBALL board.

everyone knows that, but if there is no board here for that sort of stuff, there will either be a lot of OT posts, or some sports threads mutating into a political thread.....

I again post this link for those who wish to get political, it is a discussion board with many of our posters already there, and put together by our fans here

Do these folks want to talk about the 10k limitation being a mechanism for wealth distribution from the wealthy blue states to the poorer, red states? of course they won't.

Of course not. When socialism benefits Republicans it's all peachy.

Kentucky is a welfare queen making over $2 back for every $1 it puts in to the feds, while NY, NJ and CA get less than $1 back. The states that voted for HRC are 2/3 of the economy meanwhile.

Not to mention that the SALT cap redistributes wealth from those making 75-250k to millionaires and billionaires. And the GOP is miffed it is getting destroyed in the suburbs?

If they spend more than 180 days here, they'll be caught and dealt with.
Pretty sure the people doing this (and there are a lot) already know those rules...or how to play the game.

Point still stands...you can have two roofs over your head but if you make the main one in FL, NJ loses.

While we’re on this topic, does anyone in here have a second home in Florida (or somewhere similar)? With flexible working arrangements, I’d love to live somewhere warm in the cold months. Do people Airbnb the vacation home the rest of the year, trying to figure out how this works.

Not really. First of all, people do get caught. They get your cell phone records. They can see if you're pinging to towers here or there.

Second of all, they get the property tax revenue no matter.

But if some bereaved millionaire wants to leave his family half the year...he should. But few will. It's very rare you ever hear of anyone moving to Florida because they're so successful. The lifestyle in Millburn or Alpine might be found in Greenwich or Oyster Bay Cove but it won't be in many "low tax" locales.

Retirees are a different story. And even still, some hate Florida. It's why Delaware has surged in popularity in recent years.

If you're going to do that you can't really do what @NotInRHouse and I are talking about. Or at least reap the benefits.

I do know in my parents old place in Naples, there are people (depending on the industry) who do this kind of thing.

Yeah I should probably ask some senior citizens. Snow bird life sounds pretty great.

Pretty sure my parents are still alive (90+ and 87) because of that lifestyle.

They lived/rented in a condo owned by a very wealthy widow right on Gulf Shore Blvd in Naples (it was like spring break for seniors - lol) for a few years before they bought a beautiful house in a gated community, also in Naples.

Could I live there year round? Probably not. But I would love to be there for the winter until maybe April.

Haha. I'm a LOONNNG way from that thankfully but even still when I retire I would like to NJ for half the year, abroad for half.

If I was super rich and so concerned about taxes I'd live in Vegas or Austin. But I'm a Jersey boy and I'll stay here until they chase me out. Florida not for me.

For the season, yes. For the year, no thanks.

But if you do head down that way you have to check out the Port Royal section. Impressive.

Trump probably gave $2-3 million to each farmer as a handout with the $50 billion. They will expect the handout every year. You’re complaining about $500 for parents with a kid.
Trump just promised another $13 billions to the farmers on top of the $50 billions given already at his Wisconsin rally. TrUmp just trying to buy the election again.

Last count is $50 billion to not grow anything.

Chin-na is making historic buys of American Farmers products; Corn, Soy Beans, Wheat.
Apparently they are unwilling to starve to death 50 MILLIONS as happened under MAO.

Our last flight from Fort Myers to Mercer County Airport was a $49 round trip on Frontier Airlines. You don’t have to be a millionaire to get back-and-forth from Florida. You can’t drive that inexpensively.
I just booked to RSW $61 there on United and $66 home around Halloween. Bags included.
Also just used miles anyhow

If the US farmers are selling record amount of crops why is Trump giving them $63 billions in aid. Redistribution of wealth so Trump can buy farmers votes.

Haven’t U.S. farmers always gotten aid and any increase is COVID-related?
no they've been being paid not to grow things the last few years since the trade war led to china refusing to buy from them.
Farmers have always gotten aid. That aid increased over the last few years as a result of the trade war. It is increasing again as a result of COVID.
