I'll tell you what I think. I think when that $500 check shows up in my mailbox, I'm going to sign it over to the first millionaire earner I find, take a vid of me doing it, tweet it at the gov with the caption "keep your filthy wealthy redistribution" and hope it goes viral and helps get this corny socialist out.

No you won't. That would be epically stupid and pointless!

You must have seen the Stiglitz/Picketty article on the CNBC website today.

BTW, can you imagine what a forced sale (if we get Sander's 8% wealth tax) of hundreds of billions of dollars of stock in April or July would have done to the stock market rally?

Remember, the tax would have been based on 12/31/19 share prices.

Our last flight from Fort Myers to Mercer County Airport was a $49 round trip on Frontier Airlines. You don’t have to be a millionaire to get back-and-forth from Florida. You can’t drive that inexpensively.
wow. Mine was $82 last month from Trenton to Ft. Myers and I thought that was the lowest I would see.
Have they added flights where it’s the same as Spirit out of Atlantic City?

If the tax money were going to fully support state spending on something (pension, schools, roads, etc.) you could pretend to justify it as being necessary or helpful. When virtually all of it goes into a different taxpayer's pocket, it's nothing beyond punitive wealth redistribution for politics sake. And if he doesn't think higher taxes on people won't drive people elsewhere, particularly as people realize you can work remotely, then he's even dumber than i realized.

have no idea but there were several choices at that price. Mercer airport is great. It’s like parking at a QuikChek, crossing the street and boarding the plane.
I meant days. Used to be Frontier only flew to Ft. Meyers once or twice a week where Spirit goes twice a day.

Im doing that same flight in a few weeks. But the baggage and seat upgrade options from Frontier cost more than the airfare. But still a good deal imo.

Flying into Trenton is great when visiting Bucks County Pa where I’m going.

This is so ridiculous it's offensive. You want to raise taxes because of the deficit? Fine. You want to raise them to fund bull crap programs? Fine. But this is quite literally redistributing money from one group to another. And at the state level? This should actually be illegal in some way.

This was the Assembly Speakers idea. Murphy had to agree to it to get the millionaire tax.

Taxes v redistribution of wealth.
If the govt. can't take any expenses away, it should not be allowed to take more people's money away. What did Trumpers say, for every new federal reg, we must take three away. Beeyootiful. Same with socialist Dems. Want to raise taxes? Take three giveaways away.
I don't think the Dems realize how many illegals we are paying for. They think we're "redistributing wealth" to Americans As they hang their Honduran flags outside their houses on soccer days, South and central Americans, Chinese, Pakistanis, Indians, and a few Butanese realize how foolish these Dems are..Murphy dangles the banana in front of the cart, and expects us to have our wealth redistriuted.
Oh yeah. Football.

Brendan Byrne tried a similar stunt in 1977 when he was running for re-election by sending out $500 checks-good money in 1977-to homeowners as a Homestead Rebate(As if NJ were Little House on the Prairie). All the retired homeowners in Ocean County voted for him in the morning, then the Democrats seeded the clouds that afternoon causing a storm that forced many to abandon their cars all over North Jersey, especially in areas where his opponent was the strongest.Byrne prevailed, thus sealing the pre-election deal to leave the 1976"temporary" income tax in place.

Bingo.
And it's not even a much money. At least give it to those truly in need.

So all non white immigrants are illegals now? That's certainly sounds like what you're implying.

How much did the Trump administration and Republicans reduce the annual spending budget by? Reducing taxes without reducing spending is republican folly. It's the difference between a capital C Conservative and a real conservative.

It is a non-refundable tax credit so there will be no check to give to some poor rich guy.

I wonder if one of those rich families is all in an uproar over any of the tax credits the wealthy receive in the tax code

Seems this credit is just like any other tax code carve out that exists

You forgot to include the illegal Mexicans and Africans. You don’t want to exclude any non whites because they would be offended. Of course there are no white illegals.

SIAP. Should be based on net worth, not income.
That would make more sense. Also, this won't even cover the massive tax increases that are hitting most families. Just another case study of Trenton stupidity.

How many credits in the NEW JERSEY tax code do the wealthy receive?

I don’t see how taxes could ever be based on net worth - maybe tangible net worth?. Definitely can’t force people to sell things like patents or copyrights (for example) if they can’t afford to pay ongoing tax to keep it in the family. I don’t see a net worth tax of any kind happening in the near term in NJ.

Unlike this proposed tax, that would truly destroy the NJ real estate market because property would count in the calculation.

In this case - you have to figure that only a millionaire who was already thinking of moving would possibly leave NJ faster if this is passed. It’s already true that by living in FL you pay zero state tax on income and these people we’re talking about are still in NJ right now. The money has to come from somewhere. It’s hard to really bash this move regardless of political affiliation. What would you otherwise propose the state do to raise money right now)
