Not really. The market has fully built in all the positives. One miss or continued bad news or have a sell off. I officially took a few short positions (S&P and Tesla). Who said casinos are not opened. LOL
If the market fully built in the positives, we would be back at record highs, just like before the medical crisis. Still room to move as good news comes out.

the market is optimistic, not crazy. There are things that are permanently changed and can't be reversed.

and finished over $17 yesterday. I'm holding both SAVE and AAL for the long haul. Just getting back close to normal would be 400% ROI.
The others so far?
CVX +18 (an Oil Company right now)
DIS +11
KMI +11
LOW +24
MAR +11

all of these with serious upside

I keep experimenting with short term trades, and though I have done pretty well, I don't think it has kept up with my long term stuff. Not done experimenting yet. Really I just needed to hold Spirit a little longer, I've been more patient, but I did rush on that one.

But yeah Airlines, (and support industries), as well as oil look like they still have huge upside. REIT mortgage companies too. Though I wonder if commerical real estate will not take a long term hit from this.

But the market will adapt as the world adapts. So this might just lead to Amazon being even more then a giant then it could have been, streaming providers in general are jumping, home improvement, take out foods, ppe providers, chemical companies that make cleaners.

Now some of that will take time, so I'm not arguing for a v-shape, but the world does adapt.

Interested to see how my portfolio performs on a down day.

Edit: As expected(though I did hold out some hope) I am down more then the indexes.

-1.69% compared to Dow -1.34%, Nasdaq-.28%, S&P -1.02%.

Well I guess I'm tracking it a bit, but are you familiar with E-Trade and do you know if they actually calculate that for you? I would be interested to see it.

I doubt it. I'm on etrade and like many of these platforms they only track current holdings and past transactions.
So I can see my Net losses and gains...I have to manually add them to current holding unrealized gains/losses to see overall number to date.
I have my own spreadsheets to track performance.

I'm not. Don't think any trading platform offers it. All the mutual funds do report it.

What do you guys think about Zoom?

It was at $180 earlier in the week, yet despite a big week by the Market, ZM is currently at $135.

Good buy low moment, or are their gaffe's starting to pile up and create an issue?

My pov is they had their moment and with folks going back to work...I don't think the trend is in their favor.
Thats a shallow look but I think a ton of things are where they are based on emotion and short trends and news right now.
Do they win from covid lockdown exposure like Netflix? Some imo. But they're not an entertainment platform that will get extended play like NF did in this cord cutting trend.

how you like them apples? Can't believe Musk agrees with me and saying it publicly. Now I just need to figure out when to cover and not be piggish.

I bought some late yesterday thinking I caught it on a low, then that sob drops that on me.

2nd time this week I buy something and then get immediately blindsided.

Curious why you thought it was a buy? I haven’t covered yet.

Strictly a timing thing, saw a hot stock take a dive, thought it was going to just be a quick drop in an overall upward trend, so thought it was a good time to jump in.

And it might have been if Musk didn't feel like chiming in.

But yeah, I'm a nube who got duped.

Everyone makes bad trades here and there. The only reason I asked is because it’s very different than your previous trades.

Was it that bad given it was on a dip?

But, that trade, as well as buying back in on Amazon does make me want to go back to high dividend stocks.

Any trade you lose more than the market index is a bad trade. But it only counts after you realize it. My shorts can go upside down in a hurry. Doesn’t mean a thing until you lock it in. Just remember, there is a fine line between investing and gambling.

Even if you were previewing buying at $800, would you have expected a further big dip? Or would you have thought it was a good time to buy off of a dip? Musk's comments were a very unexpected influence on the price imo.

Now I have gotten better in terms of not panicking and selling on a dip, I think my last 10ish sells have been for a profit, but I still rush buys when things are going up, not wanting to be left behind. After Wednesday's big rush I did make a couple buys, when I should have taken a breath and realized a dip was likely and waited a day or two. Should have sold a couple things on that high too, as I am looking to further refine my portfolio towards stocks I want to hold more long term.

Like to think I'll learn to be more disciplined going fwd.

This stock was 360 on March 18th. I honestly think it’ll hit 600 in the near term.

So what do we think about the likelihood of the infrastructure bill getting passed?

And if so, would we focus on american companies for steel and concrete? I'd think it would be obvious that we would, not only to get the american companies going, but also because of the not buying from china angle, but on the other hand, if you send the jobs out for bid, do we get out steel from Korea or something.

If Murphy & his AG have their way all NJ businesses will go under. This weekend the AG sent out undercover ABC agents to catch bars who were trying to survive by selling alcohol to go & violating the EO from Murphy. What an A**hole both Murphy & Grewal are, let people try to make a living & stop with the BS!!!

In the example from the link you posted, this sounds like a non story, they were told to stop selling one certain product, but could still sell other products, as of yet no repercussions.

any small business owner on here that applied and received a PPP loan?

I know the manager at a private country club.
They applied and received.

Up until this past weekend (when the course opened) they were only offering a to-go menu from the restaurant to members certain days of the week.

Hope the news don’t pick it up. Private CC gets govt bailout. That will go over well.

I wonder where the market would be if the fed stayed out of the picture? The market didn't matter as much years ago when people had retirement income as part of their employment. But now, more and more people have to rely on savings and retirement plans in order to live.
And these interest rates are so low that we retirees have been pushed into the stock market and it gets worse because once again, bonds rates are really low. The better paying dividend companies like CVX, XOM, T and some others are now a little scary as an investment.
So there's the rant from one of the older generation retirees. if you're young right now and have time to wait, they'll be some good buys out there later this year I think. I hope you all make a lot of money in the market.

By order of the NJ Attorney General a group of undercover agents was sent through out the State to catch violators of the EO, they had one mission...to catch violators & you can rest assured that the violators will be punished, & a friend who is a bar owner was told by the ABC agents that suspension & fines will result to anyone caught.
