OT: Caution on take out food

So I do doordash in the winters to supplement my income if snowplowing is lean. I am continuing on Friday and Saturday nights now though because the pay is like $40/hr. Lately I have to wait 10 -15 minutes at restaurants because of the surge of peeps taking out. I'm watching safety practices at some of these places and its not good. Tonight I watched a runner get food from the back and if the women at the counter was busy on the phone she would then take customers credit cards to pay (most establishments let you pay over the phone or in an app but this one doesn't.) I watched her numerous times after this go to the sushi station and take containers and put lids on them potentially contaminating the food from previous transactions. She had gloves on but that really didn't matter as whatever was on the credit cards transferred to her gloves. Another place I saw a worker with gloves talk on his phone and then after he was done continued to work without changing gloves. I'm sure a
lot more of this is going on but most folks don't even have a clue what goes on.

When I get take out I remove all the food from their boxes or containers and heat it in the oven. We do t get cold food. Then wash my hands. That’s the best we can do I think.

If you're in good healthy I wouldn't worry. If you suffer from hypertension, diabetes, or obesity i'd worry.

My best friend is 42 in great shape, no conditions and ended up on a ventilator for 18 days. You’re rolling the dice no matter what shape you are in getting this. Even if it is a 1 percent chance of ending up like that I don’t want to take the chance of it can be avoided.

the warnings about take out seemed to have
lessened a bit....the most recent concern is about
ordering cold food, sushi, etc....

if ordering things that are cooked and delivered hot, the food itself is ok..... just take it out of the container,
and clean and dispose the container, bags, etc

if picking up in the establishment, it is best if they have the credit card machine where you insert the card....I have tried not to use cash at all, when possible.

You are now obsessing and though it would be nice that everyone adhered to proper sanitation guidelines it is just not happening at every establishment . Why is that? People just haven’t lived their lives this way.EVER. Like some state’s who have infringed on people’s rights , instituting just dumb over the top rules in order to justify their elected status. Your chances of contracting it through food or because someone touched their phone is not worth the worry.

This has become the goal of some politicians .See how far we can go.Not too different than in some communist / socialistic countries .A chance to emit controls on the civilian populous . Watch there will be more of this going forward even after this is over. Big Brother is here for sure.

So what is worse ...going into a packed supermarket or waiting outside for food at the restaurant or getting a delivery from a restaurant attempting to feed the public.

People need food. You don't need to play golf. And getting take out is no more risky than grocery shopping.

I am involved in the care of previously healthy teens in an icu. And just wrote a paper about dozens of teens in picu.

Some, far from all, have other problems. Many in their 20's and 30's having the same. Those are the facts I feel with daily, kyk...

What is best for those who have lost their jobs and are suffering is to get the virus under the control. There isn’t a trade off between the economy and the measures of dealing with the virus. Getting rid of the virus is what the economy needs.

Guys, no one is enacting stay at home measures to justify their positions. They are doing it to save lives. Absolutely no other reason no matter how many times you may hear that on Fox "News".
People really shouldn't watch Fox if they want to learn anything about... Well anything.
Fox, or beliving anything on there, is literally dangerous to your health. But you can eliminate the danger if you just drink bleach - so you got that going for you.

I hear ya, of course there will be some in icu. But that stats are the stats. Look, if youre im a hospital youll see the worst of everything, right? What you dont see is the literally 99.99% of teens not effected by this. Again, not even exaggerating those are the actually numbers.

If you work where sick people go, you will see sick people, im sorry but thats just the truth.

Only delivery hot food for us, reheated. But that's because we can afford to be extra cautious at the moment and have no interest in getting the virus. I'll wait for sushi.

Virus starts the inactivation process as soon as it leaves the body, and there's mostly doubt (can't really get hard evidence either way) that it takes hold in the digestive system.

Just use common sense and hope for the best. Time, heat, sunlight, and hygiene are your best friends.

Do these under 45 only hang with their own kind? None overweight. None with illness. None with kids. None with parents. No one with asthma?

Your user of statistics is bogus and your thinking unclear. You talk as if you are in a bubble. If you isolate from everyone who is in touch with anyone that is social distancing. 45 year old healthy people who interest with others are Dangerous if they don't do social distancing.
