What a joke. They could do this by phone in a couple hours or have everyone submit their brackets by email and add up the winners.

This would have been so easy and fun for a lot of people.

Lamar Stevens of Penn State in paper today mentioned doing the bracket. Never do the right thing.

Chambers loses two good seniors and if they get to NIT next year could he be fired? At least he could say we made the tourney.

Maybe I'm not seeing the full picture but at face value, it's awful that they didn't release a bracket. It would have meant so much to kids at RU, Dayton, SDSU and so many others to get that recognition for what they accomplished.

Then again, a down year for UNC and subpar season for Duke. Maybe the people with the real influence that could have gotten it done were less enthusiastic.

The NCAA doesn't even have to announce brackets but rather just a alphabetical listing of the 68 schools selected.Conference champions would be decided by either who was in first place at the end of the season or who won the conference tournament if it was completed. The remaining at large selections would be chosen from the various metric ranking systems that were already in place.I'm pretty sure most of the analysis was already compiled and the only remaining issue was seeding for the brackets. There are too many schools that need to have their name announced because of its importance to recruiting, coaches tenure/ bonus payment and the public good will that would happen.

Dan Gavitt and the NCAA officially suck. I get that they had to make the decision that they did to not play the games (though I would have preferred an indefinite postponement), but give us fans some sort of happiness in a time where a fun distraction for a day or two would be welcome.

This

The only argument against this is their season didn’t end for teams with chance to earn their way in via confrence tournament play

But I like the above...

just rubs salt in the wounds

I totally disagree. Assuming RU would be one of the teams selected, I think it would be viewed as a great honor for the team, particularly for the seniors. It would grant them the recognition they've played so hard for all season. And it would be an official means of saying that the 29 year drought has ended.

The bracket could be followed by an * that reminds everyone that, due to the national emergency, the games could not be played.

I see nothing bad about them doing this.
