Just say some private organization wanted to host a 32 team tournament in late April to crown an unofficial national champion, would it be allowed?

Most schools will have canceled all sport and extra curricular activities in less than a week.

how will players pay to participate? their travel and accommodations cannot even be paid for. I'm sure most players are disappointed but have no I interest in playing.

if there was a CBI type of tournament in Disney or Vegas with invites to the teams that would likely have been invited to the NCAA tourney with sponsors picking up the costs I wonder if the NCAA would allow it. Schools would have to decide if they participate.

Would think that Orlando and Vegas would give huge discounts on rooms for the teams as there will be oversupply. The airlines are taking hits and may provide discounted charters for the teams.

Can make it regional starting Apr 23:
- Big East, SEC, ACC, 1/2 B10, and other regional conferences to Orlando

- Pac12, B12, 1/2 B10, WAC, Mtn West and other regional conferences to Vegas

Final 4 in 1 of the 2 sites the following week (May 2)

That wasn't the question.

nevertheless that is the answer. After all teams have been officially shut down by the schools no university will sanction their team since the programs will have been shut down. They would not be competing as Rutgers. Furthermore it is likely that players would face repercussions for participating in such an event because of the publicity implications. I would not be surprised if doing so would violate a clause in their scholarship agreement.
