Assumes the NCAA cares about something other than NCAA. Nope.
Best case. Selection and scheduling goes on as always. Games are played in empty stadiums. Ticket money MAYBE refunded.

What do you mean nope? It's a global issue. If they sent Rutgers to the west coast and Stanford to Albany, it's gonna be in the news.
I do not believe that is true. I have seen many a team in airports flying commercial.
NCAA will try but not easy.
Eight teams play in Albany:
Guessing RU, PSU, Yale, WVU, Robert Morris, Maryland, Villanova, Liberty, UVA, Providence, Siena, Seton Hall, Vermont, Colgate & Hofstra would all love Albany.
No Number #1's in the above. Possibly No Number # 2's in that bunch. If RU is 8-9 likely no Albany.
If Dayton wins A10, they get #1 seed in Cleveland. B1G should have 10 where do you put them?

yeah.. it is worth the effort to minimize travel.. but you might end up with truly regional play... and that's impossible. How many western teams will make the filed? How many southern?

But they should try. Forget the "advantages" given the high seeds this season only and think about the health of the nation and the schools these teams represent.

The NCAA subsidizes championship travel (not to mention you're not finding that many seats for players, coaches and support staff within 3 days). The travel for the regular season is budgeted in and incumbent on the institution on what they decide to do, and can be planned far enough out that traveling commercial could be possible since the schedule is known a couple of months in advance.
Teams can bus too if they're close enough, but again that would be chartered. Again though, they are not going to rewrite the brackets just to keep teams closer to home so fans can attend.
Of course it will be because there are liberal nut jobs who will make it news for no reason.
They are currently discussing having no audience or even cancelling the tournament. That's not money driven. Scheduling teams geographically seems like a much less drastic move than either of those options.
There's NO WAY I would travel to Atlanta if I were you. Too big of a risk. I recommend finding a Rutgers Fan already in Georgia to give your tickets to. That way you can rest easy and know you are safe.
If you need to give those tickets away to save yourself, I may know a guy...

One of the people I work with flew home from Tampa with the USF MBB team. She said they all had middle seats but everyone that had an aisle seat switched. Said the aisle was a sea of elbows and legs.
They had the head of the ncaa on yesterday on cbs and he said none of what you just posted

In the end it's just a bad flu, but that's not gonna stop events from cancelling, which they already are. There will be media pressure to do something and I'm just acknowledging that
Tourney starts in 8 days. The NCAA is in touch with all the right people. They plan on holding their tournament as planned with an audience
Every company is discussing it. I personally don’t think the NCAA will do it. It would be like holding the super bowl without fans. To big.
All you people are nuts. I went to CVS to pick up some BP medicine and the shelf was empty of hand sanitizer. And Shop Rite was low again on TP. I have 1 roll left in my house but I will conserve to avoid looking like a fool like the peeps I saw with 2 8 packs in their carts. And I won't even get into the guy buying 4 huge water bottles for those water coolers, a bunch of jug waters and cases of water AND 3 bottles of bleach....WTF????
They're not going to reduce travel just because of conoravirus -- the teams are still traveling so what's it going to do? Is a local team less likely to be affected by the virus because they get sent to Albany instead of Tampa or St Louis? Doubtful.
Lol. The next time the ncaa operates in the best interests of the schools, fans and the “student” athletes will be the first time
