Wrestling Day 2 - Big Ten Tournament Updates

Spent so much time here yesterday, feels like I never left...and not mad about that in the slightest!

Day 2 will continue as follows:
- Session III @ 12:00 ET: Consolation semis and seven place bouts
-Session IV @ 3:30 ET: First, Third and Fifth place matches

Roughly fifty minutes until first whistle, so tune back in as we approach noon!

That is correct. Janzer is in the 9th place bracket, in a weight class that has 10 automatic bids. If Janzer wins his next match he punches his ticket.

Rutgers will be at a major crossroads these next few years with the caliber and depth of recruits it's bringing in between Alvarez, Aragona, Vulkah, Kanniard, Turley, Poz, O'Neill, Shawver, Hamilton, Olivieri, etc... all of which were state/national champs and highly ranked national recruits.

If in 3-4 years we don't have multiple AAs and guys legitimately competing for B1G/NCAA championships, Goodale and co are going to find themselves in a very bad spot once again. The talks of RU not being able to develop guys will be back and be 100x worse than they were in the past, given the depth of talent we've never had before. I'm not sure if they can survive that. With this much depth, it obviously gives the coaches a little more leeway and they don't have to bat 1000% as long as some/most of the guys make it to the next level and are successful. If they can't get it done over next 3-4 years, I'm not sure they have what it takes to build elite program-wide success to get to the level of team trophies and championships.

There are no more excuses about facilities or institutional support, they have what they need to get there so its its time to put up or go home.

All true, but why wait before discussing it? I've been watching for a long time and see much the same thing occurring each year. This year is ending with the same issues as it started with several wrestlers weak on bottom, not shooting or not finishing when they do. I fear it's systemic. Coaching isn't just providing the facilities but is a process.

Big has 10 auto bids at 184, so yes he is wrestling for an auto bid.
They are in-correct at 125(if they have not changed their tweet). Nic is not wrestling for a bid. You always wrestle to a place one past the number of bids. One of the at large criteria is finishing one place outside the bids for your conference.

In retrospect, considering that Rutgers offered 12 tickets to each of 3000 season ticket holders, and gave schools a few tickets each, which wrestlers' parents ended up with. So, why does it offend you that a few PSU fans helped your season ticket sales by purchasing season tickets, so they could get tickets to B1G?

I think you’re misunderstanding what I was saying. I don’t have a problem with Penn State fans buying season tickets, but there are plenty of Penn State fans complaining that they were unable to get tickets as if Rutgers should have put aside a special batch for Penn State fans to get direct access to. There were plenty of opportunities to buy tickets for the event.

That's technically true, but either were guarantees by any means. Grello wasnt wrestling well before the injury (6-5, lost 5 of his last 7) and Colucci has never previously qualified.
