I read earlier that RU is 19-1 in games where an Addidas ball is used and 0-10 when any other brand is used Hopefully the NCAA tourney uses Adidas balls

This is true. Our only road win was at Nebraska and they use the Adidas basketball. We were 18-1 at home. You bring up a great point. I wonder what basketballs the Big Ten tourney uses?

Perhaps we should begin practicing with these? Adidas should be cool with it... because if we win with their unis on its good for them.. heck, they should buy us a bunch of them

How many of our losses were with Adidas basketballs? What was our shooting percentage in games with versus games without? What basketballs do they use in the NCAA tournament? Sounds like this could be the makings of a hot tip for those who bet on games, not to mention those of us who are just plain fans.

The ESPN story was an interesting read. I guess the use of the different balls is kind of factored into the home court advantage.

Only loss with Adidas basketballs this season was the Michigan home game.

Big Ten schools with Adidas are Rutgers, Indiana and Nebraska. We did not play at Indiana this season. We won at Nebraska.

Or maybe it's just because we are 18-1 at home and 1-8 on the road. The same would happen if we played with a volleyball at home....:Sly: and played lowly Nebraska on the road.
Always important to look for what the factoid does not show... does not consider.

Pitt and Bonnies use Nike. Just an FYI

There is something to be said for different balls being used given the amount of effort/gamesmanship some coaches use in finding obscure balls to give them a home advantage, per the ESPN article. I wonder if it contributes at all to our slow starts on the road, as the team gets used to the feel of the ball and plays a bit more comfortably down the stretch.

Maybe they should let the road team choose or supply the balls. It might help equalize the home team advantage.

Maybe there should be a rule change where the team on offense uses their own balls. Just switch balls with every change of possession. Obviously, it could slow down the game a bit but it would be well worth it.

Maybe they should just pick a standard ball for NCAA competition. They could use a different ball for each Division.
I like this.. they already use a standard ball for the tourney. I bet the NCAA could make some deal with a ball manufacturer to produce the same ball for all teams, leave off the "Wilson" and imprint with team logo and sponsor brand. Nike, Adidas, etc.

use Wilson branded at the tourneys.. in-season and post...

perhaps that will satisfy both using a standard ball and the brand appearance contractual agreements already in place.

perhaps a conference should lead the way.. like the Big Ten makes such a deal.

hmm.. what ball will be used at the Big Ten tourney?

I believe we have only lost 1 game with Adidas bballs. This is a real thing as each manufacturer's ball has a different feel, ie more slick, etc. To me it would make sense when you have an away game coming up to practice with the ball that team uses. I get it being an additional expense to have extra sets of balls but it would give the players a couple days to adjust to the different feel.

Well, Purdue uses a Nike ball - so hopefully we're practicing with those this week.
man I sure hope you are right and wonder if this "consideration" is even something "considered" by Coach. 100% agree.

While at it, somebody should check on what kind of sneakers Yeboah wears and do a court test cause he sure seems to fall down a lot.

Different balls were a not-so-secret key to Wisconsin's success in the Bo Ryan years. Other players HATED handling and shooting those things.

The ball matters. I think even very amature players can understand why
