With our losses mounting and Maryland @ home, Purdue on the road we may well be close to the coaches thoughts on where we would end up. Even though we have had a breakthrough season, ironic how it may end up.
Rutgers had a 12-3 record and now is in the period of a 6- 8 record with two more difficult games to play. The team has over achieved at home but has played like a 12 preseason prediction in February because of the predominance of road games.
Yesterday was not a 12th place performance, iowa on the road was not a 12 place performance. We are closer than we think we are. Need to play full games. That obviously is our biggest struggle. For some reason it takes us a half to wake up.

2 years ago at MSG, Nebraska finished tied for 3rd and was a top 4 seed with a double bye in the B1G tournament......and because the league was weak that year, they didn't make the NCAAs and weren't frankly close, because their wins were close in league and losses were mostly non competitive games.....and they proceeded to get blown out that Saturday afternoon, with a double bye, which cemented that fact...while finishing 4 games or more over .500 in league play.
If we finish 10th then the preseason 12 is right on target and we have been mouthing off all year about it looking like ***holes
This team needs to get it's head out of it's *** and play. I give them 0 credit for the second half because of how they played in the first. None. PSU had the guy who controls their offense out. This wasn't a game to lose. We are pathetic right now. Absolutely pathetic team.
Spot on comments.Coming close is still a loss in the record book. But at some point you have to win the games. Northwestern has had a bunch of "not 14th place" performances... but they're still in 14th place. They lost by 5 vs. MSU, by 4 @Indiana, by 4 @Illinois, by 3 vs. Purdue, by 4 @Rutgers, by 9 @Maryland.... but they still have just 1 conference win.
If we were picked to finish 12 and we finish 10, it's nothing to celebrate.ummmm no. right on target for 12th would mean we finish 12th. maybe it is close or close enough but still not right on target.
to compound on what jersey seahawk said if we go 1-1 we basically lock ourselves into 6 thru 8. if we could somehow go 2-0 we could we lock ourselves in for 2 thru 6. Even if we go 0-2 we probably end up 7-9... All great seasons.
The really good part about our season is we have at least 3 game left
For many reasons this has been a hugely successful season for rutgers mens basketball. if you cant see that then you are delusional. The problem with delusional people is they have opinions too. Opinions do not have to bebased on reality or have any context to them. they are just opinions. However based on context and reality some opinions can be wrong regardless of what people say about them.

It’s been a good season thus far . It could end very badly and or very great . You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see .
Like you said at least 3 games left before we know how this season ranks .
I'll never forget when Bob Wenzel (another coach that too many people still believe walks on water) claimed in 1994 that "seeding (for the Atlantic 10 Tournament) is just a numerical way of ordering teams."
Let's lay it out there. For all the fun moments there have been, if this team finishes 9-11 it's only +2 over last season.
We would have made a bigger jump last year (from 3-15 to 7-13).
I like Pikiell but I know he’s got flaws. Some posters are ready to canonize the guy.Wenzel? He had one really good season here and one great conference tournament . He’s a better broadcaster than he was rutgers coach
What other coach walks on water here? Schiano?
On paper, yes. However, the B1G is so much stronger this season than last season.Let's lay it out there. For all the fun moments there have been, if this team finishes 9-11 it's only +2 over last season.

Experience can only take a team so far in a power conference.Rutgers shooting woes will still be there next year unless some recruits are brought in during the spring signing period.Lets also not forget the road woes have been a decades problem area and not a recent occurrence. It's not accepting mediocrity, you have to allow the majority of his recruits become Upperclassmen for the first time and see how his teams perform. If the team fails next year, then rip his mediocrity. He still only has 2 Srs. and 2 Jrs, and 2 of them are 1 yr players from other schools, a 2 yr juco, and 1 3 yr junior. Next year he will have 2 Sr., 4 and 2 yr., and 5 Jrs.,, 3 3 yrs. And 2 4 yr.. That's what you need to win consistently, if you're not recruiting top 100 talent is an upperclassmen heavy team. Only 2 teams in the top 30 NET, that has no top 100 talent SD St and Dayton. and they both have 6 upperclassmen in their top 7 rotation.
