Pikiell is overrated.

I'd be pleased with Pikiell for the next dozen years. After that we should promote Geo Baker or Paul Mulcahy from our staff to head coach.

Oh so because we had potato brain coaches before him that means he’s good?

Mike Rice was a better coach than him. Some of you won’t like that because he threw basketballs at kids, but Rice’s teams weren’t soft as baby ****.
wow.....what a dope.....if this team could hit more outside shots. we would have two, or three more wins possibly....it's as simple as that......trying to inject your coaching expertise which is questionable to say the least is laughable....do you have a personal vendetta against coach pike?.........rice may be a better coach, but he's coaching h.s kids now......i'll take the not better coach, who can fire up a fan base, buy pizzas for the ticket office staff, thank the ru nation repeatably, and last but not least. how he represents this university, humbly with class, and dignity.....i have to question the motives of posters, who have to inject their superior knowledge of college bb coaching. for us to be in awe of......what a dope

These are fun times indeed.

First the recruiting was terrible and the players being brought in, were not good enough...so there's no chance to win....and that was 3 years ago, 3 months ago after losing to Pitt and St Bona....now it will be 3 days from now, when we play another ranked team on the road.

Then players who have a couple of good games might be testing the draft very soon....or if not that, I thought the talent wasn't good enough??

Then 3 weeks ago it was whether UConn was going to come calling about Pike, because of course UConn will need a new coach, who is Danny Hurley in Year 3, with better players and talent/athleticism at every position vs RU.....he definitely would be better, look at how good UConn is doing in the AAC.....right???

I can always ask, what coach is better....?? If fans can name whose better in the B1G, name them without aligning some 4 or 5 star players carried by their program or a roster inherited with 3 to 4 very good players in place.....You want Juwan Howard....?? Pat Chambers at PSU, who was on the firing line 12 months ago?? Archie Miller, who was hearing the wolves at Indiana??

It's year 4 and on the doorstep for the NCAAs after no winning seasons since Schiano went 11-2....we had 2 football coaches and 3 basketball coaches since then.....and 10K fans at MSG about 3 weeks ago, maybe I missed that too. That only happens because, I mean, we've done very little since Pike has arrived, right??

It's going to be fun rebuilding football too and playing Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin Iowa, MSU and Michigan and asking "why can't we ever beat Ohio State in football on the road and why can't we make a major bowl game....

Maybe it's going to be Schiano at fault when that doesn't happen in Year 4....Cause we all know the B1G is subpar in football, just like basketball....we will be able to win road games at Wisconsin, Happy Valley, Ann Arbor and Iowa City in short order....can't wait for those teams to get to Piscataway when we get things set in 3 to 4 years.....that's all it will take....!! Don't worry about any of it, things are going to be fine, I mean, anyone can recruit and coach at RU, didn't we find that out with Flood and Ash....or was it FHJ in hoops....maybe Eddie Jordan can come back to help with our offense, we just need to run our sets on offense differently and we go from 19 to 20 wins to become Michigan State overnight.....!!

We have a protege of a Hall of Fame coach in Jim Calhoun, who doesn't cheat in recruiting like UConn and Calhoun. No coach is perfect, but if you are on the Naismith list for Coach of the Year candidate, something must be done right, I think.....???
a 1,000 like's for this post hawk....but, your just wasting your time trying to reason with a dope....i mean what is the purpose in his posting about coach pike being over rated...no one claimed that he was....the man has worked wonders here ...i mean edidie jordan couldn't be bothered if his team could rebound or not...remember that press conf....i all most barfed on my key board.....we have come a long way ,in a short time concerning our rebounding ability....that has to do with a head coach who coaches, and TEACHES.

No agenda at all. I have hung tough with RU for years. I have seen my fair share of heartbreaks and for some unknown reason I keep coming back.

I just think people need to caution acting like Pike is a god king. I want to see this team step up and I want to see Pike close a damn season out.

If we do that, then we are NCAA bound for the first time in my lifetime. If I need to get this thread bumped each year calling me an idiot for that then that’s fine. Bump it every day and tag me in it. Would love for that to happen.

I think you are projecting false news to substantiate your venom .....that there are actually a significant number of people who are acting like Pike is a God or King. Most of us have either not seen RU in the Post Season or have waited over 30 Years. To understand our feelings on Pike, you must be willing to understand what he inherited and where we are in Season #4. This does not make him John Wooden, but we can be happy with the upward trajectory nonetheless. To denigrate him while the team has improved every year under him and is on an upward path is curious. Perhaps save the venom for when he plateaus or is on a downward spiral?

Well, granted rice never got a 4th year. Had he, expectation was he would dance. Mack, carter, segears, jack, judge, poole, randall. Really solid 7 guys to rock with.

This is like arguing with my wife. Throwing out conjecture and speculation and "feelings" as if they are facts when refuting a point. I also find it interesting that your volume of posts is substantially lower when RU wins and substantially higher when RU loses.

Well, you see, I go to all the home games, which is the only place we win. When i am at games I am not on my phone.

when we play away, i am not at the games, therefore i post during the games and criticize during games, and on the road we always lose.

thank you for coming to my ted talk.

See I think we are currently on a downward spiral.

I’m seeing a trend with failure to close things out and it’s a major issue for me. I’m not the type of guy rooting for this to be the case, I am sincerely hoping the team makes me sound like a complete idiot over these next a couple weeks.

I just don’t think they will. Ending this season on a 5/6 game losing streak would be horrendous.

I think Rice could've been successful if not for his emotional issues but I'm not sure what that has to do with Pike.

We have not had more than a 2 game loosing streak the entire season. Your getting ahead of yourself.

The thing is there is zero evidence rice is/was a better coach than pikiell. Rice took over a much better situation with better players than pikiell and got fired. There was no indication rice would have had a break out year in year 4 assuming this would be silly based on the first three years.

Pikell has done a fantastic job to this point. Whether he is the right man to take the next step remains to be seen, but I haven't seen any evidence that he isn't.

I will give you all of that...my one issue is his unwillingness to defend his players with the refs. I believe it totally matters and makes a difference. Especially in close games. I think he could have gotten us at least 1,. Anyone watching Izzo tonight?

Now please don't let those comments place me in the I DON'T like Pike box.
Can he be better. Imho absolutely. Am I thrilled to have him as our coach? Again, absolutely.

Welcome to team #IDontLikePike @kyk1827 will be reaching out shortly with our practice schedule.

We typically do weekly calls to discuss strategy to stir up things on the boards with a focus on ways to deflect negative energy.

You will also immediately given access to the Platinum board where @Richard Schnyderite posts only the highest value of inside information.

Again welcome to the team, I’m looking forward to our future together here on Rutgers.Rivals.com

Guess you missed the 2nd paragraph . but I'm always up for some good discuss that doesn't involve ego and protectionism.

Disagree?

Explain why we never see adjustments.
Explain why there are never off ball screens.
Explain why we all know this team can be effective by running, but Coach doesn’t allow them to do so.
Explain why we are running set plays for Shaq Carter on the offensive end.

This is not an emotional post, so don’t give me that “I hate our fans” crap. Address my concerns, and explain to me how Pike isn’t a NIT guy.
I don't think he is stopping us from running and I too would like to see some off the ball screens. I think we need to do some more things on offense in general, but overall he has done wonders with what he has, plus he's awoken the fan base and all of NJ for that matter. Hell, there are times we have four sophomores and a freshman on the court.

It's certainly your option to take a micro view. But almost everyone else considers season to season progression or decline when measuring progress......not game to game, intra game or home away splits. Big picture man......big picture.

Yea.....no.

Not talking about game threads or posts during the game. Rather the napalm you drop on this board for days and days after losses compared to the relative silence after wins.

To be fair, if you actually watched the games you would notice that the team did the complete opposite of this post the last two games.

I’m on the golf course in sunny San Diego 70 degree weather, but I’ll be back for crow around supper time boys.
