What is the benefit of a good defense if we can't score. Our coach can't get open shots for the shooters we do have ( Gio,Harper, McConnell, Yeboah). I will be surprised if we win another game in the regular season. We need to hire another assistant to teach offense or recruit great players to run our one on one offense. current one on one

We don’t set off ball screens.

I played like 1 year of organized basketball and even I can see it. It’s pathetic.

Turn on the seton hall game. They run nearly the same offense as us. They have playmakers. People dont know what they're talking about. The offense will improve when we have shooters.

Imagine 2-3 more made 3s and a couple more FTs a game. That’s what a shooter or two could get us.

Shooting is about skill and form yes , but it’s more about confidence . Our guys need to be allowed to shoot from 3 when open and have the green light . Yes , we don’t want to settle for threes and take bad threes but if you hesitate , the other team knows this and cuts off driving lanes and lacks the paint .
We need to either coach this or our players need to be able to do this on their own . I get we want to be an attacking tram first but hard to do that when they sag off you and close up lanes

I argued somewhere else that we should have used this game to shoot many many threes. Was perfect setup.. we could have crashed the boards for long rebounds because Wisky doesn't like to run out and maybe, just maybe, someone would have gotten hot from 3... when the plan was to catch and shoot or surprisingly pull up. Then, off the rebound.. driving to hoop or dishing there might be more open.. more able to draw a foul.

I would not try that for any of the next games.

Looks like our favorite blowhard poster has created an alter-ego poster who's just as annoying. Great.

We have no shooters. Wisconsin has shooters. See Pritzel. This is the type of player we need to round out a team. Hate to say it but McClung could have been that type of guy.

We have shooters? Seriously though the few games I watched were brutal.

The only player I remember getting hot at all was Harper.

We miss wide open shots all the time. What are you talking about?

The is the problem with some people. they make blanket statements then in order to answer them you need to go rewatch the game to highlight every open shot in the game.

My man can you give me one example where pikiell has ever told a player not to shoot? or a player didnt have the green light. Seriously. one time where pikiell saw a bad shot and took a player out. Mathis air balled 8 straight shots but their he was jut kept shooting. hell i saw carter put up a 18 footer at home a couple games ago down the stretch and pikiell didnt say sh*t. their is no basis for this opinion.

Glass half empty fans see every shot we miss and every shot another team makes. We certainly can shoot better and we can also move the ball better. Those two things feed off of each other. Watch Illinois game again and then let me know what you think.

It's true of all fan bases though. The Illinois game ball movement was much better. It didn't carry over to the next game though.

It's not that we NEVER run a play or NEVER get open looks. It's that it doesnt happen enough. Or we run a play but not with purpose. It almost looks like a walk through going through the motions at times. That isnt going to generate open looks. Too many wasted possessions of bad offense with forced shots as the clock winds down where we looked to have no real purpose on what the goal of that possession was. Not enough finding mismatches and attacking. Not enough getting players the ball in the right spots on the court. Its basketball. Every team will get open looks no matter what but that doesnt mean it's good offense. Its just the nature of the game

Obviously other teams in our conference have the same issue. Look at the stats.
