We have never been blown out this season and we've only lost twice by double digits, 11 pt vs. Pitt and 12 pt vs. MSU.

This fact will not be lost on the selection committee as they want a team that can compete with anyone as it's better for TV ratings.

I hope its true.

But at some point this team has to get over the hump and make game winning plays on the road.

We are the worst road team of any bubble sitter. ( I didn't look it up but I feel pretty comfortable with it being accurate).

Our NET is going to be in the 50s if we keep losing. The moral victories won't mean anything.

2-5 down the stretch, with the possibility of going 2-9 counting the tourney won't be very impressive to the committee. Whoever thought we already did enough to get in is crazy. If we finish 18-14,we might not even get a NIT home game!!!!

Is this really something the committee takes into account? Margin of loss?? I don’t believe so.

Yet another great hypothesis....

you know what the committee likes? WINS
Yup we have 18 and need at least 1 more. Not many teams get in at 18-14. Everything else this season has been fine. Just win another game and two would be better for our seeding.

its factored into the net and yes it matters when they are looking at the team sheet and the scores are there

It’s something that will come in conversations when comparing the last 5-8 teams in .

At some point ..teams will be looked st and asked...would you not want to be playing in a ncaa game in a one and done situation ...

And that’s when the competitive factor comes in and objectively someone will say...”Rutgers is a pain in the *** for 40 minutes and if you don’t beat them for 40 minutes, they will get you “

Does it matter at all that we have the toughest last 7-game schedule (strength of schedule) in the country?

Unless we have a good Big Ten tourney we are not going to the NCAAs and don’t deserve to go!
This isn't remotely true. If we win 2 games we dont need to win any in the B1G tournament. If we lose out in the regular season then we need a win in the tournament. Maybe 2

Given rutgers' neutral site record, you'd better not count on wins in the tournament. You have 17 wins now. You lose out, and you think ONE B10 tourney win does it?

Possibly, depends on the other bubble teams and any surprise conference tournament champs stealing bids. Bubble is weak this year. Compare our resume to other teams. Can't look at it in a vacuum

Like everything else, NET matters until it doesn't, like for N.C. State. The holes in that resume last year were easy to spot despite the terrific NET ranking. Our road record could be another such hole, but I think we're in better shape this year than they were last year.

Winning one more and then one in the conference tournament and I think I would relax.

Exactly. you never want to let the committee give themselves a reason why to not invite. NC State did last year with their schedule. Ru has done it with their 1-9 road mark...yet a win over Penn State can make all the go away. Beating Maryland is an enormous and might be enough but its likely a tourney win will make Rutgers fans secure on selection sunday

I would agree with bac on this. If you beat Maryland and get a B10 tourney win, you probably are on solid ground. Maybe a Maryland win and ANY win on the road.

One things being overlooked here in our favor ...

1.) currently we are 6-8 over the expected field ...wins over Stephen Austin, seton hall, penn state, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois and losses over Maryland, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio state, and Michigan twice. Six wins against the field is VERY good number any year. One more is a lock ...more I think about it.

2.) the number of teams without 10 plus losses in the power conferences is going to be at a all time low. Maybe 15. So when teams are looked ar how competitive they are ...our low margin of defeat, especially against so many ncaa qualifying teams...is gojng to reallt stand out should we be measured against the last 5-8 at large bids

2 wins, IN, for sure
(would include either 2 wins away from RAC, or win over top ten Maryland team at home and win away from RAC)
Double Digit win over Maryland, and 3 more respectable road losses - DAYTON (first 4)
One road/BTT win - ? if over Penn St, might sneak us in, or a Ranked first round BTT opponent - ? 50/50
