Could the B1G be reducing its numbers if bids daily thus opening up the bubble.

the bubble seemed smaller when teams like Purdue, Indiana and RU were locks and MN was right there. . Now while 2 should make it; there is doubt.

No doubt we are eating our own but it helps when the league had a strong pre-conference showing early. I actually wish we’d go back to 18 league games so we could get a couple more inter-league games. The 20 game conference season seems really long with nothing but intra-league games since the beginning of the year.

I respectfully Disagree. Normally B1G 10 basketball conference is average and in a year like this when league is strong - most games are quad 1 and 2 to improve your status. I wouldn’t be surprised down the road league goes to 22 games. Better for BTN.

There was talk of the Big Ten getting 12 teams in, but that requires such a perfect threading of the needle in terms of outcomes to get that many in. All along I have thought 10 was more likely than 12. I do think it is almost impossible to draw up scenarios where there are only 9 getting in, however.

Purdue is a team that the advanced metrics think quite highly of, but at some point you gotta win the games. Minnesota likely to also end up with an overall record that is a serious drag on their chances.

This will be the 4th season since 2010-2011 that the Big Ten finishes #1 on KenPom and it also has two 2nd place finishes over that time span.

If the Big Ten is normally average, I'd hate to see what a bad conference looks like.

the problem is the selection committee has anti big 10 bias, you see it every year in the seedings...expect it this year as well

I think part of the problem is that the B1G hasn’t won the championship in 20 years. It’s the strongest leafue this year and is loaded but it’s doubtful a league team makes the Final 4.

earlier in the season with all the reports of 11-12 Big Ten teams getting in I reminded us that the best the Big Ten has ever done was 8. A 16 team Big East once got 11.

9-10 would be a record for the Big Ten and a 14 team conference and my take is that the committee would feel that they were fair, whether or not other Big Ten teams had stronger arguments than others.

other than a 16 team conference getting 11 in (Big Least) ... the closest is 9 getting in a few time in a 15 team ACC... so getting 8 in isn't that far off the ACC's best and they had more teams. with the bias out east with the Big Least and NC Mafia... that ain't bad.
