People who are fans of the win one more game and in theory this should be a boost to that scenario. Interestingly enough even if RU loses out they still believe things could get “interesting” on Selection Sunday. Rutgers is still in a very strong position here down the stretch.

Sounds exactly like what some of us have been saying and maybe even more positive, as I thought we'd be out if we lost our last 5 and I also thought we'd be in, but sweating a bit if we only won one more. Somebody send this to Edelman, lol...

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The winning streak is over at the RAC, as Michigan handed Rutgers its first loss at home since last March. The Scarlet Knights are being seen as a potential No. 8 or No. 9 seed, but Steve Pikiell's team might have to work hard to hold that position. This team's remaining schedule is brutal, even by Big Ten standards. Rutgers closes the regular season with games at Wisconsin, at Penn State, at home against Maryland and at Purdue. Currently 9-7 in the Big Ten, the Knights will have done very well for themselves if they finish conference play over .500. They will have done fine if they finish at .500. They will make things interesting if they lose all four and finish under .500.

Thanks. Good stuff. We win one on the road, we're in. I think even if we don't but we beat Maryland at home (why not start a new winning streak) I believe we're in. Personally, I would like to see this team rebound from last night's debacle and steal a win on the road and beat Maryland at home so there will be no doubt about us getting in.

Been trying to tell this board for weeks that we only needed 19 wins including Caldwell but I'm sure these guys who do this for a living and are almost always spot on with this bracket stuff don't know anything either. Win Sunday and we dance!

Palm says 2...but Palm is very history based, he will point to the historical thing about road wins, of course history is always broken like it has been with teams with 15 losses getting in the past couple of years..he said that wasnt going to happen, also he will trot out the thing about no team since Georgia in 2001 has got a bid being only 2 games above 500, they were 16-14. Purdue could test that at 17-15

I more win gets us in. Nothing has changed (as far as that goes) because we lost to Michigan at home.

A 19-win Rutgers team that folded down the stretch will not make the NCAA Tournament. 2 wins is the minimum and don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

Purdue is such an odd team. Play great D and they are big. Think they can beat anybody. Not sure why they aren't better.

I'm holding out hope that 2 wins, including the Big 10 Tournament results, is good enough. But if we can get two wins before the tournament, I don't think we need to sweat. I know its a tall order but winning tomorrow isn't an impossibility and would alleviate so much pressure. Hopefully they can pull it off.

Interesting does not mean in. Dayton at best, and that depends on how other teams from other conferences, NC St., Georgetown, etc do

Two wins prior to Selection Sunday and we are dancing... no ifs, ands or buts.

Even if this is true I would really like to get 2 more wins. I know some will say "enjoy the ride" but I would be disappointed if we finish the season on a 5 game losing streak.

wrong...there are certainly scenerios at 18-13....2 wins virtually locks them in any scenerio except at 19-15...that would mean them going 0-4 regular season then getting 2 in the Big 10 tourney. This is the only scenerio where 2 wins may not be enough...and only if one of the wins was to Northwestern/Nebby

I actually agree with this although there are some other variables. If the 19th is vs. Maryland, I think we have a shot.

correct

plus one win in regular season and one in B10 tourney.....remember RU would be in the 7, 8, 9, 10 seedings with that 10-10 record means another Q1 win and that would also guarantee dancing

they are terrible on the road

a Rutgers win on that closing day when all the eyeballs are watching would be a huge win if RU's backs were against the walls. So while this stretch is brutal, the thing is every game is another opportunity to get a quality win. A loss at Wisky doesnt mean things are over, ditto for a loss vs Maryland or a loss at Penn State. This team has plenty of chances...and if it doesnt step up then we do not deserve to be in the NCAA tournament

This sums up where we stand on 2/21/20 in a nutshell. Still hopeful we can get one of the next two and then clinch it at home against Maryland. If they really are an NCAA team, make it happen.

The Caldwell game will be listed next to our name on whatever bracket we end up on (NCAA or NIT), but it's not part of the selection process.

On the team sheets provided to the committee, Rutgers numerical record will not include the Caldwell game. The NET Rankings also don't include Caldwell, nor is Caldwell included as part of our Q4 record. It's listed in a small box for non-Div-I opponents, so not entirely invisible, but it simply doesn't count for tournament consideration.

It's like when we played Texas Southern and Howard in football in 2009. Had we been 6-6 that year, we wouldn't have qualified for a bowl, as our eligible record would have only been 5-6.

I know, everyone knows, but the win still counts. People who are saying things like "20-11 isn't 20-11, it's 19-11" are saying irrelevant things; 20 isn't some magic number; it doesn't matter.

Like the post "Two more wins gets RU to 19. RU has 17. We all need to get that through our thick skulls." implies that this "fact" somehow means that the analysis people are doing is WRONG and needs to adjusted for this new info.

That's ********, everyone doing any analysis at all (not the people just mindlessly claiming we need 10 more wins to get in like @RutgersNYCB1G) is looking at actual schedule, not being tripped up by the shiny number 20.

But it's not about that... we have 17 qualifying wins right now, not 18. The question at this point is whether we need 18 or 19, not whether we need 20.

Their guards stink. These are their worst guards in many years. Plus their 3 point shooters have been inconsistent. Both Stevanovic and Wheeler could go cold any minute. In prior years even with and without Carson Edwards , they had Dakota Mathias and Ryan Kline last year that hit incredibly clutch shots and three pointers for them, and 2 years ago Vince Edwards keep them in the game at MSG and hit clutch shot and clutch 3 over and over otherwise we beat them that night at MSG. Frankly we should beat them again . The invincibility of Mackey is gone this year as well, although they can get hot and beat MSU by 29, Iowa by 36 and Wisconsin by 20 when they hit their 3’s but lost by 17 and 14 to Illinois and Penn State at home when they were not hot from 3.

Just Shill being Shill. I won't put it on here cause i would probably be banned in the PC world we live in today, but he is an example of a famous Ron White quote.
