The lack of people in Scarlet here right now is stunning. I just don’t get it.
Pet peeve of mine too. You can get Rutgers shirts for like 10 bucks at KohlsThe lack of people in Scarlet here right now is stunning. I just don’t get it.
Nah. We should buck the trend and wear red at home, like football. The heck with white at home.Would help if the team did
I know white at home but wear red on the road and wear red warm ups instead of black.
I wore black tonight ...does that somehow make you more fashion forward?
Who cares what people wear. Be loud and involved. That's way more important than the color of your shirt.
People worrying about what color we wear when we're having the best season in forever! Unbelievable. SMDH!!
It does not matter what people wear as long as they cheer loud and hard for RU.
Wearing any Rutgers gear is fine. Unless we made sure that EVERY person in the building was wearing red, it really does not matter. Very overblown worrying about that people wear Red.
Best of Luck,
Groz
Bull, if we all wore red it would help the team win. It’s not like we’re undefeated or anything.... oh, wait a minute, never mind.
PS - I’m glad to see red and various RU gear, but I wouldn’t care if people wear yellow as long as we win. What bugs me a bit is people sitting court side in gear from other schools. There were guys wearing Duke and ND shirts in court side seats today.
Plus a guy in a Jets jersey.
@BKIn118 We can do both. Sean Axani probably approves this message, despite not wearing red. ;-)I wore black tonight ...does that somehow make you more fashion forward?

Listen, I was in there an hour before the game, Hanging out in the lobby by the ticket office for the most part, and the number of people not wearing RU gear is what got me started. It was stunning. Most of the people in RU gear wore scarlet.
Ohio State fans weren’t wearing Oklahoma gear?Went to Ohio state game last week and you couldn’t find many people wearing OU gear at the game.
The issue kinda reminds me of the pre-Schiano days... I cannot remember in basketball, when most people wore red.. but in the 80s red was rare enough... the student section was not red.. many people wore college shirts from other colleges even... and I cannot think of a reason red would have become dominant in the 90s.
People did not go to Rutgers because it was a sports school.
IIRC.. the famous run in 88/89.. the Back to the RAC run.. the popular shirt became a gray sweatshirt with a giant red R.
For the PSU-Rutgers championship game.. people were encouraged to wear red.. and look at the results..
ahh.. that had a lot of PSU fans..
how about the home games here.. from a "mix tape" of the following season
I remember the first bowl game in Arizona.. for the pep rally Pernetti wore a tanish blazer, blue shirt and yellow tie. *shakes head*.. fashionable?.. yeah.. it worked.. but c'mon man.Greg began the “WEAR RED TO THE GANE” marketing. As the football team slowly got worse the last couple years that started to fade away. Market it again and it will come back.

He was an announcer, no? He was there... NOT wearing any red.Pernetti wasn’t our athletic director in 2005.
My question is... Why NOT where red to a SCARLET Knights home game? A: don't own any red shirts. B: trying too hard to be different. C: not aware that's its kinda a thing to show support for your team. D: you've only got one red shirt and its dirty. You have your thoughts which I understand, but I was also there(wearing a red Rutgers sweatshirt) an hour before the game and was with many people down in the hospitality area and only about 1/2 were wearing red that were Rutgers fans. Many wore black RU shirts or sweathsirts. AND those people are pretty much at EVERY game, not every once in a while.
In my opinion, it has no bearing on the game at all. Cheering loud and hard makes much more of a difference.

Yeah they should get smaller tubasWhat's next Nuts, complaining that the tuba player is taking up too much damn space is in the student section?? SMDH
Ha ha I get it, don’t get me wrong, but when we started, I mean when Greg started, the “wear red to the game” marketing it was phenomenal! They need to go back to that!

None of these are really good reasons. Fans of big time programs know enough to wear the proper colors. Maybe over time ours will figure it out too.
+1I dont understand how someone imploring fans to wear red is controversial
Can we not cheer loudly AND wear Red for the good tv look? (Superstitions - which I dont want to mess with!! - aside)
Not hard people...
