MD #8 NET, RU #31

KenPom has Neb at 132 and NW at 117.

Both games come down to the last shot in regulation.

Both MD and RU still undefeated at home.

Any win in this conference is a good win.

This is why some of the criticism of the NW game is over the top. Its college basketball....it happens.

The more concerning thing for us, I think, is that there seems to be a trend forming with out guys that isn't pretty. There are some concerning things going on, most notably the complete collapse of our offense. Hopefully the last 15-20 minutes of NW game was the end of that. I have little doubt that if we can get Geo going again, Harper will follow as I really think they feed off each other.

For Maryland, its a little different. Every one of their guys is insanely talented, and capable of turning a game around at a moment's notice. They have just been under-performing. We do not have anyone with the raw athletic ability of Maryland's top guys. If we get our act together, we could make the tournament and even win a game or 2. If they get their act together, they are a Final 4 team.

I don’t think the last part of your statement is close to accurate re: athletes. It’s true Maryland has the 1 first round prospect on either team in Jalen Smith.

I think when it was RU in this position 2 years ago like NW and Nebraska, we took it as either a sign of progress, or signs of despair.

If Nebraska or Northwestern wins a B1G tournament game, it would be more of a surprise because I think the other teams will still have NCAA chances. But you absolutely cannot fall asleep on a neutral court with a somewhat empty 1st night in Indianapolis playing one of these 2 teams, with absolutely nothing to lose.

Agree with much of what you say, but what you didn’t mention is that MD doesn’t have the depth that we do. They are particularly thin upfront and are vulnerable in that respect.

Rutgers is a good basketball team. We have our flaws for sure but I wouldn’t get too worked up over our close wins at home or our close losses on the road. Not in this conference this year.

From this point forward we will be in dogfights every night against highly rated teams. We have occasional defensive lapses like any team, but we’re still outstanding on D, capable of shutting down a good offensive team for large chunks of time.

The crazy thing is, we’ve had some total clunkers offensively and have still been in every B1G game with a chance to win in the waning minutes.

These are exciting times for RU hoops.
