Rutgers wins before 8,000

7-3/16-5 headed to Madison square garden as I really dared to hope for on January 1st....

And with everything in play for as a goal and possibility in the month of February to go out and earn ..

Purdue blows out UVA, Mich State, and most recently a hot Wisconsin team, and gets blown out by the likes of Nebby. and Northwestern. Another scary game.

This is one of the "throwback" rosters, where they have 2 bigs....One is a mobile, wide body in Williams who can manuever around the basket.....and Paarms, who is capable of being an interior post, but is a shooter 1st and weak side defender.

I am not quite sure how we are going to defend Williams, he's going to be a problem for both Myles and Shaq Carter....Paarms is going to shoot over whatever defender we put on him.

On the flip side, Williams shouldn't be able to guard Myles Johnson, but Paarms has the length to, but not the bulk.

I can see Noel Eastern getting the Harper assignment and that leaves Stepanovic in no man's land tryint.to keep up with Yeboah.

Mathis should get the assignment of Proctor or.whatever other players they choose to play...it was Evan Boudreux, a grad transfer from the Ivy.

This game is really tailor made for Jacob Young, Geo Baker and Caleb McConnell. Aaron Wheeler is a good defender but we should be able to score enough and make Purdue 1 dimensional as an inside scoring team.

Illinois had the right game plan in both games....if you see a lane or opening off the dribble, take it and make Purdue move their feet on defense.

Since Haarms has to be guarded, Williams might be a huge problem. I say we squeak by but I don’t like this matchup at all.

It will be a tough game but Rutgers will win. Too important not to bring your A game and we will learn from Saturday, that you need to play for 40 minutes.

Is Haarms 100%? Wasn’t he out for a while with a hip injury?

thanks for this analysis. Gives a good perspective of the Purdue players for those that don’t follow other B1G teams as closely.

Is Haarms 100%? I did see a game a week ago he only played 16 minutes.

2 elite defenses, 2 mediocre offenses, one pretty slow tempo team and one that plays close to the slowest tempo in D1

Well, it's unanimous, lol. Wonder what the Purdue fans prediction thread is like. Also, why are people saying in front of crowds that are less than sellouts?

I believe the way we play is most similar to IL, when comparing to all teams in the B1G.

This seems to have been borne out by last year’s OT game there and our very close loss there this year.

With that in mind, I see that 3 weeks ago Purdue lost at IL 63-37, so I think there is a good chance we win by a good margin:

If they play 2 bigs, it's very important that we push the ball and make them get up and down the floor. No stagnant half court offense where everyone looks around. Make them follow guys around and run up and down the floor.

I just don't have a good feeling about this one, our complacency catches up to us and Purdue wins by 10. Purdue 72 Rutgers 62

Myles on the 7’3” stick ...Haarms ... Yeboah gets Williams with Mathis dropping off to help... this should be a great game... The RAC must ROC like never before ..Hope the Refs let them play?

First let me say im traveling for work so missing this game kills me in the midst of a great season.

That said the key is to contain williams and sasha. I think tez draws sasha and Harper draws Williams. If we keep those two in check, continue to rebound and push on a miss we will win. Use that transition offense. Never make a score prediction but i think we stay undefeated at the RAC and set up a trip to the garden for a road game where we will have a large fanbase.

Matchups are what they are, but I can't tell whether Neb was the wake-up call or whether we're sliding toward needing another one. Would be nice to get that first win over Purdue since joining.

Edit: I just read about Ron's relationship with Kobe, I change my mind. No way they sleep through this one.
