Why doesn’t RU remove the red doors that separate the stands from the concourse? One, I’m not exactly sure why they are needed. Two, they open towards the concourse and when someone is exiting the stands you can get nailed if not ready for the door coming at you. Not a complaint, just a suggestion.

I'd imagine they help keep the sound in, so I wouldn't want to impact that by removing them.

I agree that they're dumb, but would anyone else miss the nostalgia of opening them to get in? It's so ingrained in me.

One would think fire codes are designed to make it EASIER to get out (no doors).

To some degree, it would be, just because you're removing hard surfaces and allowing sound waves to continue out into the concourse instead of bouncing back.... I just have no idea whether it would be noticeable at all.
Guys this is my expertise as I am in this type of work. The doors are there for fire code reasons spectating the stairs from the concourse. They must swing into the concourse in case of an emergency, for egress to other exits out of the building.
There are 2 major issues with them. First the knobs on the concourse side are not ADA compliant and these doors should definitely have glass. Facilities should have the doors held open on electromagnetic holders tied to the fire alarm system. This way the doors are held open and if there is a fire they will release and shut.
I wish they would do something with the outside doors too. Ugly as sin and really outdated and heavy.

I think you would be hard pressed to get a fire going in the RAC. Besides the paper towels in the bathroom is there anything that’s combustible in there? It’s all cement

The doors are the least of our worries. What needs to be changed are the cakes in the urinals. I mean they look okay but they taste terrible.
The doors can not be removed. They are part of a state and nationally registered historic site. It would be like painting the Liberty Bell orange and blue.
