And goodbye postseason...Not sure how we’re going to generate consistent scoring from this team now

In the Caldwell game. Yet another reason it should never have been scheduled.
Come on KCG, this could have happened at any point of the season. Unless you're incredibly superstitious, an injury like this can't always be un-avoided by not playing in a certain game. Is it a bad break for him and the team? Of course. Let's hope his scoring and leadership will be picked up by others on the team and they all fill the void until he comes back hopefully sooner than later.

We will miss his leadership, defense and end-game moxie (and foul shooting). Fortunately we have many capable guards who’ll have to step up and fill the void.

Not a betting man but this sucks for those who put money on RU tonight. Hope we can still pull out a victory...

Point is there was no upside to the Caldwell game, only downside.

Okay fine. Personally, I wish we were able to at least bring in a D-1 team like Rider or St. Peters. But again, we all have to hope that the rest of the guys can fill the void and hope Geo gets back sooner than later.

You still were scheduling some form of a game during that post holiday week. It sucks but cant say no game should have been played. Could have happened against any OCC opponent in that spot.
Exactly. Also, Pikiell just said it was hurt in practice, for what it's worth. People can get injured in any game or practice or just in life. It happens - now we see what we're made of and this is also why it's been so important, so far this year, that we've been relying a lot less on Geo, getting 4 other guards quality minutes. Time for others to step up.

Rutgers fans deserve combat pay. In football Pacheco gets hurt removing tape from taped ankle. Baker gets nicked up in a meaningless, ho-hum game.

Team should stop practicing too to avoid injuries. No physical activities except games

Tremendous loss

I don't see how they overcome this in any conference game

Would be nice to have Geo back in just under a month for the 2/1 game at MSG against UM.

I find this to be very the likely target return date considering the opponent and stage of the game should his recovery stay on track. Also, Geo has historically played very well at MSG.

It sounds like there was no ligament damage otherwise he would be out longer than a month.

He was icing the hand vs Caldwell so there was an issue before practice

Based on that it seems pretty obvious what happened here. He probably had broken the bone during the Caldwell game but thought he just jammed it, a sprain, iced it down,

Then during a practice it hurt enough to get X-rays and find out it was broken

Also, if we didn’t play Caldwell we probably would have scheduled another lower level team, so we would have played that night

To blame the actual scheduling of Caldwell
doesn’t make sense

The bottom line is that we need him back ASAP. Yes we covered for him well on Friday night but there are a lot of tough games coming up where having another asset could be the difference.

Some of you guys are crazy to blame us for playing Caldwell that he got hurt. Accidents happen. It could have happened in practice or whoever we were playing against. It is just bad luck. Get over it. Hopefully he will be back soon and we can get through our time without him. Other guys are getting more minutes and hopefully they will continue to step up. McConnell is very good and has proved that several times in the past. Last year McConnell scored 25 at Illinois and was 8-10 on field goals and 3-4 on threes. Young is improving and Mathis and Mulcahy are also doing well. When Geo returns he should be well rested for what remains in the season.

Can’t blame the Caldwell for Geo getting hurt. However, scheduling Caldwell was ridiculously stupid. It serves zero purpose. Also, IMO, pIke left the starters in way too long in that game. When you start to humiliate an opponent, nothing good ever happens.

Geo was definitely sitting with ice on his thumb vs. Caldwell, which is to say that there was some sort of injury during the game. It's possible that is the only injury sustained... it's also possible that he tried to get back to practice earlier than he should have and further injured it. I suppose it's also possible that he injured it first in practice prior to the Caldwell game and thought it was minor, and then realized it was more serious during the game and came out to ice it.

Whichever way, he's out for a good stretch at this point, and we need to make do without him.

Steve was very cagey when asked about it in the press conference after Friday’s game.
