A loyal son of Rutgers

Though not an NBA fan at all, I was aware of Stern and his Rutgers connection. But I never until today appreciated just how much he had done for that league. Reading a couple of brief bios that emerged after the news of his death broke, he was quite an innovator and outstanding marketer who grew the league into a global phenomenon. Team sales values grew astronomically as a result of what he did to enhance the image of the league. He also started the WNBA.

Through it all, in typical New Jersey fashion, he was quite controversial and confrontational but it's difficult to argue with the results.

He must certainly rank among Rutgers' most influential alumni.

The NBA should move their Christmas Day games to NYD in his honor going forward.

He helped make the NBA what it is today.

Rest In Peace, Loyal Son. :Rutgers
