Ahmir Smith - Marssette having himself quite a night versus USC ... Iowa is an example of a school which has poached some great New Jersey players over the years... I believe we will see less leave under Schiano in the coming years. The young man has 3 TD’s ...a 98 yard kick return ... 1 pass receiving ... 1 from the RB position.

He was committed to us for a few minutes. But he saw Ash had no idea what he wanted to do with the OC position.

The QB got hurt in the 3rd, guess they don't have the QB depth they used to.
He was the back up to start the season. Starter got hurt in the third game I believe. Wish our starter was their back up.

Fink was the third string. Daniels was the starter going into the season got hurt in game 1. Slovis was the second string (Harrell took some flack during the off-season for making the freshman 2nd string over Fink) who took over for him. Fink was the third string who came in for Slovis when he got hurt.

The late Hayden Fry said if you want to be a winner you need to start by looking like one.

He began his career at Iowa when the Steelers were at the top of their game. Asked and got permission to rework the Hawkeyes uniform to mimic the Steelers. They already had the colors.

Both USC and UCLA are no where near the caliber of programs that they use to be.
West Coast belongs to Oregon now.

Iowa:
328 total yards
Passing: 18/28 223 yards
Rushing: 27att 124yards (doesn’t include QB who was 8att for -9 yards)

Leading rusher (Goodson) was 18att for 48yards.

Doesn’t really seem all that smash mouth.

Passing game and special plays (INT TD/KO TD) bailed out an ineffective rushing attack.

Iowa does a great job developing players. Probably long term benefits result from stability of coaching staff.

They took their helmet logos off yesterday to honer the recent passings of team family.
Made them look even more Steelers like.

Whoa. Yeah that would certainly do it.

No wonder more than a few made the comment about watching a Steelers game. Makes sense.

This is why I think we shouldn’t be afraid to schedule UCLA or other mid level PAC teams in the future- 3-5 years.

That loss to Michigan in ash’s first year was the beginning of the end for him. Without those blowouts, he probably signs marsette, watts and Lovett.

Another good one who got away is Maurice Ffrench of New Brunswick, who had a great season for Pitt, breaking Larry Fitzgerald’s record for touchdowns in a season, I think it was. He had a great game in Pitt’s bowl win over Eastern Michigan, though the MVP was Kenny Pickett of Ocean, NJ. That’s another one that got away.

He was a DB recruit for us since Ash (and honestly, Ash is probably right on this) thought he was an NFL DB. OC had nothing to do with it.

Kid's coach steered him to Iowa once Ash and his staff helped him qualify for college.

Maybe we should do that with the Patriots uniforms

French looked really good the other night. Can’t believe we waited as long as we did to offer because he was a bit undersized. The kid is a fast and tough receiver slash slot back. A mile from Rutgers and we botched that too.

You see the catch by Taysir Mack in that game?
