That was a pretty passive match from Nick. He wasn't very aggressive that match. But I didn't really see Vito pushing the action like the ref saw.

Pretty weak match from both wrestlers. Freestyle scoring and rules are awful. Suriano needs to be more aggressive and offensive. Maybe he doesn't care where he finishes and just wants top 5 to qualify, which he still can. May not have wanted to wrestle Lee.

Maybe/Definitely his corner had no idea he was losing in a 2-2 match??

It did seem that way. At the end of the match he seemed confused. I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around some of these freestyle rules all these years later. I understand you want to force aggression but having rules preventing it being decided on the mat sucks.

Plain and simple at this High level you need to have guys in your corner that understand the rules!

They understood the rules. Strategy and Tactics cost Nick. Just like in the Seth Gross match. He learns well, and should still place. He needs a lot more free style competition before April, however.

Nick in the background now right behind the table, watching the Spencer Lee semifinal. I think Nick wrestles in about 30 to 60 minutes

I agree wrestle till you drop.............training your *** of for years, and years, and you lose because the ref thinks you weren't active enough...that's ******** in my opinion

The officials opinion had nothing to do with loss..The rules state the last person that scores has criteria...Vito scored a 2 last and won on the rule.

Hes still alive tonight...Top 5 move on..Nick will have to beat Zane Richards and then probably Cruz to get into the consi semi with a shot at being in top 5..Nashon Garret is sitting in consi semi if he makes it there and beats him he qualifies..if he loses there he would need to win 5th place bout

Why doesn’t Suriano wrestle for the NJRTC? Feel like some questionable choices by him. But I guess he’s always kind of went by beat of own drum.

how can anyone expect Nick to win a big match when he is cornered by his dad. His dad needs to give up his ego and let Nick be trained by real coaches. The kid has so much potential and it will be a shame if he doesn't achieve his dreams.

Pretty dumb rule. Doesn't matter who scored first or second as it was a tie. Freestyle rules suck and are a big reason many don't care. Change the rules.

I did it odd that he doesn't wrestle for NJRTC. Agreed that he's always done his own thing.

And there is Nick , sitting behind the scorer's table watching the very last Greco-Roman match, the last match of the night. lol. He's a student of the game, for sure. Guess it's better than going back to the hotel. Pretty sure they have to weigh in again tomorrow morning, so a late night meal probably out of the question.

If I got it right...Nick will get Darian Cruz tomorrow 11 am. Suriano is 2-0 vs Cruz in Folk Style in College. Winner gets Nashon Garrett, who Suriano beat last month . Winner of that match wrestles for 3rd, loser wrestles for 5th and last spot. 2 more wins and Suriano qualifies for the Olympic Trials.

A lot of rules to know and understand for someone inexperienced in the corner. Buxton knows rules/challenges and has reputation that refs respect

Suriano with 10-0 TF over Darian Cruz to move onto Consi Semis. Needs one more win to qualify for Olympic trials.

Suriano’s defense is exceptional almost to a fault where he will not take a risk. Think it hurts him sometimes.
