People who have said those things never said he was a magician. It's extremely difficult recruiting top-notch talent to Rutgers when you're competing with Ohio State, Michigan, Pedd State, or Wisconsin.
BTW, how many here have actually see Berger play ?
I would actually say Rutgers is the obvious choice. Not sure how going away from home to Wisconsin makes sense when you have a coach like Schiano in your back yard. The guy has a proven track record of getting guys to the league. It’s pretty obvious that good things are happening here and if this kid wants to play in front of friends and family and be a local hero, he plays at Rutgers. Nothing like playing a game and then getting a nice bite to eat with your loved ones after the game. That is special.
I really hope he comes to RU, it would be Huge to sign NJ's #1 player but just look at the 6 OL Wisconsin signed yesterday. 2 4 stars and the rest 3 stars and all have B1G and power 5 offers. Also Wisconsin didn't sign 1 RB and looks like their all about getting JB..If Schiano can pull this one off it would be amazing!
I just listened to the NJ.com podcast from 2 days ago and they had Richard S from this site on as a guest. Richard S said that coaches at Don Bosco said that RU is in the driver’s seat with Berger!!!!

Wisconsin has nice weather in July and August. Nice little town.
when RU takes off, it’s gonna be scary fun. Think villa 2006 on steroids. Wisconsin can’t reach those heights.

I'm surprised so many people think he's going to Wisconsin. From everything I've read and heard, I think he's close to a lock for Rutgers. The right coach makes all the difference.
My son was playing (pickle ball?) with Kyle Monongai yesterday at Bosco during gym. Let’s just say that Jalen is very excited for Kyle and appreciates the love from Rutgers.

I get that they are close friends, but I am puzzled. Since they play the same positions, wouldn't they want to be on separate teams so they each get more opportunities to put up the most stats? After all, there is only one ball.
EDIT: BTW, I really want him to come to Rutgers. It would simply be awesome if he did. Wonder if Adams and/or Young leaves if he does.

Jalen can play a role like Blackshear, I’d moved to the slot.
I can only hope that he would be satisfied with this role.
Have a feeling that we will get guys on the field if they can create a mismatch, regardless of position they play.
Really hoping that the feeling that he's a Rutgers commit is true. For one, I think he'd be a great asset and building block for the team. But for two, we need to stop the pipeline of NJ RBs to Wisconsin.

Gameday in Madison can be a little bit of trouble - Parking around the stadium is very limited, so most people (meaning fans of opposing teams), have to park somewhere in town and walk to the stadium - and you end up walking past Fraternity Row - suffice to say that it's like the Bataan Death March.
A friend who was 8 months pregnant at the time had a glass bottle of beer thrown at her. The ironic thing is that even though she was a Penn State fan, she was (at the time) a professor at the Univ. of Wisconsin. She was able to make a report to campus police and they tracked down who threw the bottle. Suffice to say it was not a pleasant experience for the young person who threw the bottle.
Once you get outside of Madison/Fraternity Row it's really a beautiful part of the country.
Actually, there is a growing trend among blue chip RB recruits that they want to make sure that the team has another stud RB with whom they would share the load. They know that as an RB, their athletic lifespan is very limited. The NFL is not impressed if you led CFB in carries. If anything, that may be a red flag.

The top 3 NCAA rushers, Chuba Hubbard, Jonathan Taylor and J.K.Dobbins all had approx. 300 carries on the season. Those 3 will probably be the first 3 Running backs selected in the NFL draft.

Take off the scarlet glasses. Wisconsin consistently has a great Oline. I remember Taylor saying he was going there to play behind thebest line in the country. That's how you get to the league.
I found their tailgate setup odd and frankly, disappointing. You basically tailgate in bar parking lots and buy drinks there instead of packing your own. I didn't like it at all. That said, we had a great time and not one person gave us any trouble.

If he signs here hopefully people will start to break out of the Ash/Flood mentality that we must always settle and the top guys are forever out of reach.

I just don't see a running back from New Jersey having any success at Wisconsin.

The last three years, Ash recruited alot of good football players and laid a strong foundation. He just didn't win. Schiano, knows this, and is adding where they need help and overall. People will be shocked how quickly Greg will make RU game competitive.
Berger would make a great slot/H-Back where he can get the ball a number of ways. Looking forward to see how Greg finishes out this class.

As was mentioned before, Berger is not the traditional, up the middle, power back that Whisky covets. Hopefully he realizes that and Wisconsin does as well for our sake. He has the opportunity to be part of something special here, join his back mate from Bosco, play in front of friends/family, and achieve cult like status like Brian Leonard. Hopefully, these things and more will tip the scales in our favor.

How many carries for their college career is what I would measure as a NFL GM.
