Why would you flip from a national championship team to play for a coach that has won like 5 games in his terrible coaching career?

Edit he's 6-40 in his career. Solid.

Hey. People will be asking why flip from Ohio st or penn st to Rutgers in the not so distance future.:) he is a local kid for the twerps.

I’m a huge fan of RU. This is ridiculous and nonsense.

it’s the biggest flip of the day. And it is great for them. It’s worth a mention as they are in our division and a litmus test for us each year as our rival.

Please go post in Maryland board. You can talk about how great of flip it was for Maryland and there are many posters who will agree with you. That's why Maryland has their own board, as Rutgers do to talk about topics that relates to our team

Nice get for them.. He looks ready to go now -- imagine the beast he'll be in a few yrs
I expected nothing less of you, pumping up the prospects of our foes. This from the guy who will piss and moan the next 8 years because Schiano's our coach. Some of us will never be in, that is till they get their way.

The starter of this thread is the kind guy that would talk about how cool his neighbor's new BMW is after that same person runs over his dog.

The kind of guy that complements the guy his wife is having an affair with for having great sex with her.

The kind of guy that would thinks it is a good idea to post about a Maryland flip..

You know one of those guys.

Ridiculous post.

People take sports a little too seriously sometimes...

I like some things Greg has done too. Hopefully we land Berger & hire A Camp

Some of you guys are nuts or have no reading comprehension abilities. I genuinely dislike superflame as a poster, he's arrogant and strangely homophobic, but he's just reporting here. It's entirely relevant when the 1 other team in the conference / division who joined when we did, who many see as a comp in terms of a program, flips a 5 Star from a powerhouse.

Schiano spent past few years at OSU. Where's our 5 star flip???

Telling your daughter at her 17th birthday party that a girl on her cheerleading team just got a Mercedes for her birthday isn't ideal timing. It may be true, but it's bad form. Some days serve more limited purposes than others, and given the shitshow we've been through for the past five years, and more intensely part of the past six weeks, knowing that a conference-mate flipped a five-star could've waited till tomorrow.

some people can’t take news and blame the messenger.

it was noted on Maryland boards Schiano was a good get for Rutgers and will make recruiting tougher for us and increase RU fundraising at a minimum.

Yeah, but that's only because everyone on your board is actually a closet RU fan and no one actually wants Maryland to win over there (rolls eyes).

I think people forget sometimes that it is possible to be driven, determined, focused - and yet classy - all at the same time.

That fact that some don't get this is just sad.

I don't see it as anything like that at all, it's not a wedding, a birthday or anything even close to me. It's a day of news and prospects and hope for the future for my favorite team and alma mater and that's great.

It doesn't mean we have to be closed off from whatever else is happening elsewhere. It's just sports news with regards to our favorite team and sports news with regards to another team...yea so big deal. If you don't want to read the news of elsewhere it's very easy to skip right on over it, it's just text on a screen.

If we had hired GS on any particular day and everyone was feeling great joy, hope for the future and Maryland or whomever hired their coach on the same particular day is that not worthy discussion on that same day. Is it a big deal...IMO hardly. If you want to read about it on that day go ahead and if not then don't click on the thread..it's very easy.

Maryland flipping a 5 star WR from LSU was the news of the day.

it’s a conference for, had RU done that we’d have had a thread. We had a thread on Schiano.

many discussed how it will effect Maryland and how we’re not sure if he will treat success he had, but RU will recruit better, fund raise more, and will be tougher.

I have nothing against Maryland, of course it is great for them, just like it will be great for us if we get the #1 player in NJ in a few weeks.

I only question posting it here on a Rutgers board on signing day as if it is a good thing. Yes, it is a good thing.... for Maryland, not for Rutgers. So why be so happy that Maryland got Such a great get on Rutgers signing day?

That is just beyond stupid.

See I don’t take it as that I just take it as passing along info and a little commentary.

The same way I pass along coaching news of other programs and give my two cents commentary ..., good hire for them, solid name..strange choice...don’t like that name pro style lineage etc....just informing and passing along info with a little two cents commentary.

Hey mods, are we cool with people using the R-word on this site? Just wondering. Every time I see it here, I'm amazed that no one else is offended.

And before people start insluting me, no, I am not a snowflake in any way. I just find that word offensive, just as the New York Giants did with Jackrabbit.

+1 Would love to see @RU Cheese make a public apology to this board. Long overdue

There is absolutely nothing wrong with opening a discussion about a struggling program within our own division being able to flip a 4/5 star recruit. Obviously that is one of the programs we have to pass to get where we want to go. However, as stated by a previous poster, it should have been labeled OT since it did not directly relate to Rutgers recruiting.

6-40 is even worse than Ash. But he gets the recruits.

Jesus. This thread is a great example of how people in NJ eat their own. As much as I love NJ, I hate this attitude.

Doesn't even look like Locksley knew he was coming...now that's top notch recruiting for you lol. Also if you didn't need another example about the fickle minds of teens and just to let things go wherever they're going to go.

From an article in the Athletic:

“We had no idea he was signing today,” said Locksley, whose staff was in touch in with Jarrett over the last year but also refrained from pestering the prospect too much. “We had no idea he was even coming to us. Then all the sudden, he puts out a tweet that says ‘Committed,’ and we’re like ‘What is this?’ ”
