Took a hard fall on his wrist against ISU and has been ruled out for the rest of the game. Something to monitor for next weekend.

It's not a big loss, SHU has front court depth and has 5 full days to prepare for RU....RU plays Wednesday night vs another quality opponent in Wisconsin in a conference game, before thinking about SHU.

It's a big loss for SHU

He is the 2nd option, mobile, can stretch and hit 3s

The other bigs are immobile, stone hands, can't shoot nor handle the ball.

It is a shame but injuries are part of the game. That is why teams have a bench. SHU didn't feel sorry for us in Eddie's last season when we only had 7 scholarship players dressed for the game. They ran us into the floor and gloated about it. They ripped us up and down about how bad we were. They have 2 seven footers plus Samuel, Rhoden & Thompson who started at Syracuse as a frosh. Rhoden and Samuels are supposed to be stars of the future. They have more size than RU does plus All American, Powell. They are rated much better than RU. They will be the favorites.

I've watched them at least 5 times. They're ranked in the Top 15 and have Jared Rhoden, Taurean Thompson and Tyrese Samuel that can all play in that position, AND 2 7 footers at center that can block shots.....you also have another Top 150 kid in junior, wing forward in Myles Cale.

Thompson and Samuel are both Top 150 caliber and/or ranked out of HS, with Cale and Myles Powell. That's 4 players more than capable of making up for the loss of 25 to 26 minutes a game by Mamu.

Is the loss ideal for an extended period...? I am not so sure it matters.....I also just watched Georgetown lose 2 starters in Akinjo and LeBlanc and a 3rd player off their bench and Georgetown as a more than solid underdog, won at Oklahoma State by 8 AND blitzed previously undefeated SMU on the road.

I am not a SHU fan but the biggest overhyped item is assuming player departures or injury, means a team cant make up for it. It happens everywhere in college basketball.

Plus the added playingvtime will just make them a better team long run

I’ve only seen them play a couple of times but Samuels looks like a solid player. How highly recruited was he? I don’t remember a lot of fanfare around his signing but perhaps I was just not paying close enough attention.

Samuels has highest NBA ceiling on the team based purely off of style, he has to fill in a lot but the upside is there. He will be a big part of this team by the end of the season.

Just still seeing the myriad of reasons why an injury can matter and how in some cases it doesn't or actually improves the roster. Sometimes other kids need more opportunities to shine, where a player is already taking up minutes.

I am leery of using the Eugene Omoyuri excuse as soon as something doesn't go RUs way, as if he's a 1st or 2nd team all B1G player headed to the NBA.....same concept applies here for Mamu and SHU....he's a Big East starter, but inconsistent and streaky shooter from 3, like most kids at this level. Not irreplaceable by any stretch of imagination...that's how I see it and it's OK for others to disagree.
