6-0 run for MSU after we grabbed a fleeting one point lead

I certainly will take 33-28 but RU should be up, some self inflicted mistakes, MSU is not shooting the ball well tonight, we have to take advantage of that

horrible last 2 minutes after taking the lead..y are we throwing it into Shaq Carter 15 feet out in the post. Him and Douc should never put the ball on the floor. Either jab and shoot the jumper or drop step if they are closer to the rim. These two are like the black hole when you throw it into them.

The game changer was the Yeboah launch on the fast break after he hit the 3 to take the lead. We had all the momentum and throwing it up while falling towards the basket killed us. Then he did another out of rhythm launch the next possession

We’re ok, all things considered. Fell behind 11-4 early, on the road to a ranked team, and didn’t fall apart, even with Myles having to sit the last 9 minutes of the half. Came back and took the lead, temporarily. Only down 5 at the half, 33-28. I’ll take it for now.

The negativity on this board is so overblown. Were down 5 at half In the breslin center. Not saying the team is perfect, FAR from it. But Jesus Christ some of you need to grow a pair and let a game play out.

Michigan State is playing exactly as poorly as they need to be for Rutgers to upset them. Rutgers is not playing well enough to upset them.

rebounds finished 21-18, RU cut the gap 9-5 in the last part of the half.

Difference on the stat line is about the free throws...RU not getting to the line, 0-2, Sparty is 8-10

Second Half.
Need to get Ron going more as usual on offense..Also, Winston is a great closer; have to keep throwing defenders at him and not let him kill us in the pick and roll game like last y ear. Also, stop turning the ball over. Keep up the pressure on the perimeter because our best offense is our defense.

My prediction for the second half: the refs call a bunch of fouls on us on Winston drives and he beats us at the free throw line

It is incredible all the whining on the game thread. I was reading how we're getting blown out and its looking like we're losing 90-60. Then i check the score and its like 9-4. Lol

Holy crap do we have some hyper-reactive fans!. Its crazy. People, take a breath. Let the game play out a bit before going into full meltdown mode.

Its pretty damn funny tho...

This team desperately needs a leader on the court. I was hoping that would be Baker but since he doesn’t want it, maybe Mulcahy can fill that role next year.

Absolutely agree. Don’t think it justifies calling kids “idiots” with low IQ and ridiculously dumb. But hey, maybe I just don’t get the point of a forum.
I also think Michigan state playing poorly has something to do with the defense they’re playing against. But heaven forbid we look at any positive.

For the most part we’ve played better in the second half this year. Have to start strong, stay close and give ourselves a chance to win it at the end. It can be done.

We're down 5, the spread was 12. So basically on track to lose as expected. Considering Vegas sees us as the 12th best team in the conference, an "as expected" loss is nothing to be optimistic about.

You are right because Rutgers lacks shooters to take over the game and lead the team to victory.

Yup. God forbid we have a half (not even a game! just give me a half) where we shoot like 5-11 on three-pointers and play with a lead.

How many free throws did we shoot like 2? To get an upset we need to drive and get fouled. Start acting like every other team in America which we don’t do and watch how the refs start blowing the whistle. We can never seem to get the other team into foul trouble.

So far it looks like we match up well with MSU. Too bad we don’t play them at home.

Michigan State is missing a couple key players which makes then vulnerable to any opponent that has a pulse on offense.

Some people, let's call them "basketball people," get irritated watching their team underperform so severely and go into the half facing a self-inflicted deficit... regardless of the opponent and venue.

RU should be up several points right now as they were last year at the half in East Lansing. If they were this inefficient on offense and down 5 at the half to Nebraska people would be up in arms, what does it matter if the same circumstances exist at a better team?
