A few notes from my first impression of Head Coach Schiano:
  1. I particularly like how Greg talked about all the things he learned from others throughout the years (ie: how to run a program, how to work harder, how to recruit better, how to coach better)
  2. Greg seemed very humble and gracious. It stood out that he said he would hire people with great skill and let them do their job.
  3. His comments on roaming the streets of the "New" New Brunswick + NJ is the one thing we are not divided on (as opposed to North vs South Jerz or Jets/Giants vs Eagles) gave me chills. He's right. We're are united under Rutgers. Gotta go sell it.
  4. Greg's comment on how he still checked in and followed Rutgers closely throughout the years and it disappointed him that everything was burning down. This man has pure, unashamed pride in NJ & Rutgers through thick and thin.

Why do people keep thinking that Stephen is going to come back to RU? Guy is calling the defense for one of the best defensive teams in the NFL already. Give it a rest...
Why are you getting so worked up about it?

it is a plausible scenario. While he is calling plays, he isn’t defensive coordinator. He isn’t managing and controlling all of the players on the defense 7 days a week. When he says something to a NE player, the authority is coming from him being the son of the head coach, not from respect he has built up on his own.

it wouldn’t be shocking that he spend a few years away from the Patriots building up his independent coaching experience, then he would be more ready to truly be a D coordinator.

It's going to be a tough rebuild. The presser made me feel he is more than up to the task.

I was impressed with how Greg handled the Q&A. And, very happy that he's aware of the clock ticking re: recruiting. He got the crowd going as well, which was exciting. Let's get to it! And, I for one am glad the Chop is back.

I watched the Greg Schiano introductory press conference and I’m ready to run through a brick wall for that man

I was wondering if Coach was going to come out guns blazing or quiet and subdued but I think we got a bit of both. He reintroduced himself to the fanbase & the nation while giving everyone a glimpse into what he's learned and how he's prepared for the task at hand. And already, he has set expectations that he'll hold accountable.

All of these things we haven't seen or heard in a long long long time.
