Let's say they get back to the table and GS is hired. Is the sentiment for Hobbs going to be "glad you came to your senses, you ultimately did the right thing'? Or is it still going to be "Eff you. We'd still like you fired"?

I am actually more upset about the unnecessary botched process and subsequent community meltdown and media embarrassment than I am about Greg not coming back. I assign the blame for the mess to Hobbs. That said, if he lands Greg, I'll be Hobbs neutral all other things given. If he doesn't I don't think he should continue as AD given the mess he made of Rutgers.

He'll have hired the right football coach. So football will take care of itself. The football facilities will get built pursuant to the contract. I believe Pike is the right coach for basketball. We seem to have decent facilities for basketball and the other sports. So I don't care if he sticks around and smiles for the camera. But if the new president cans him I won't lose any sleep

I think everyone’s feelings with Hobbs will be dependent upon whatever statement he makes upon the conclusion of this drama.

it’s not even about saying he’s sorry for the mess.....perhaps he will reveal that he Always did feel that GS was the best option and the mess was a result of other factors.

There are mentions on Twitter of Hobbs being tied to an FBI investigation related to a former SHU basketball recruit.

And there are rumors of another, totally unrelated story that is also bad.

It's really weird how this is all unfolding.

Is this related to the move to get Hobbs out you posted awhile ago?

Not my concern. Get it done.

Hobbs was too stupid to hire Schiano the first time around. Sabotaged him this time around.. and we're supposed to want him here still?

Hobbs is too.. *something*.. to see that Schaino is going to be the hardest working person on the state payroll by a long margin and is exactly the type of person who you want to hire.. and give power to.. because he is going to make you look good. Instead, in actively resisting this.. everything Schiano achieves will be seen as being done despite Hobb's opposition.

So Hobbs will continue to try to sabotage this.. that's the only way he can "win". Sabotage this, hire someone else and hope to get lucky.. or hope Schiano gets hired elsewhere and fails... or both. Hobbs painted himself, an us, into a corner. Since he's stuck.. we're stuck.

If they do come to an agreement, do you really think it's because Hobbs woke up this morning and thought, "Wow I actually think Gary would be a great fit here... I made a mistake"?

I think it's a little more likely that the fans and donors fighting back will cost him his job if he F's up again.

the right and professional thing would be for both to "hug" like nothing happened and move on

As I said in another thread on this, the goal is to get Schiano back, along with major facilities/support improvements. I think Hobbs has been an incompetent snake on all of this (as my source said he would be weeks ago) and has tried to torpedo the hiring of Schiano, as we've seen in many reports, but at the end of the day, if he can get a deal signed, I'll mostly forgive him and focus on football moving forward.

And like in the Godfather with waiting until their mother was dead before executing Sonny for his betrayal of The Family, we'll wait until Barchi leaves before "taking Hobbs out on the lake" for his betrayal of the Family, so to speak.

Ok, I get it. You don’t like Hobbs.... but..... “in a bag” is one of your choices? Really!
