Yeah this story is ridiculous. And was the judge also paid under the table to issue the temporary order for the player to continue to play? Why isn't the Memphis Coach also ruled ineligible by the NCAA to coach anymore? Although I love it, college basketball is one dirty business and hard to take serious.

Looks like Penny is a scumbag too. Top recruiting class...what a surprise.
To be fair Penny was Wiseman’s HS coach when the alleged infraction took place. Not saying nothing shady went on with that recruiting class, but I wouldn’t discount Penny’s name recognition and the school prestige as a factor

Not a big fan of colleges having their nickname on the front of jerseys, especially when it is something so common like Tigers that tons of colleges and high schools use.

College recruiting is a great system in which Rutgers is on a level playing field with the top schools.

Rutgers would be “unable to compete” if laws are passed to allow players to get paid.

why couldn’t Rutgers compete? They will be raking in a ton of conference TV money and have a very large alumni base.

In a court of law, 6 current HCs were implicated in paying players, agents and runners. Still coaching. Penny helped the kid move. KID Suspended. The Department of Education should force their member institutions to disband the NCAA as a governing body for college athletics.

Big time schools have waaay more big money boosters.

How much do you think Johnny 5* QB's autograph is worth to some extremely wealthy booster from USC? $250k? You think RU has those types of boosters? The rich will get richer. They don't have to worry about offering playing time, just out bidding someone else.

Friggin’ Memphis has the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation. That is proof enough of shady business!

1) what would be the reason for Rutgers lacking big money boosters? There are plenty of rich alums including at least a billionaire or two.

2) The Rutgers athletic budget will be >$100M a year. You think they should have a problem spending a couple hundred thousand here or there on some star players if needed? Athletic department budgets literally invent ways to spend all the money they have. Trimming down the waste and throwing some to players is fairly easy.
