Reading this thread, I just think back to when teams like SMU and Memphis were terrible.
If they can get themselves winning seasons, we can too.

Teams like smoo and Memphis don’t play PSU MSU OSU UM and the rest of the B1GReading this thread, I just think back to when teams like SMU and Memphis were terrible.

IU does and they’re 7-2 this year and have made a bowl 3 out of the last 5 years and the two years they missed out had 5 wins. It can be done.Teams like smoo and Memphis don’t play PSU MSU OSU UM and the rest of the B1G
in our place they’d suck too
Have to think they would be doing a lot better against the lesser teams that have already beaten us up.Teams like smoo and Memphis don’t play PSU MSU OSU UM and the rest of the B1G

Point taken but they’d still be taking severe beatingsHave to think they would be doing a lot better against the lesser teams that have already beaten us up.
does not change the fact that smoo and Memphis would also suck in our league...right now RU is just a bad example to argue with...our theoretical ceiling is higher (again in theory)IU does and they’re 7-2 this year and have made a bowl 3 out of the last 5 years and the two years they missed out had 5 wins. Norvell (or anyone like him) and his family have to have an affinity for living in the northeast.. near NYC/Ocean, etc. There is a lot to offer here.. with some headaches.. but it takes the right people to want it. Otherwise, he'd look only at football programs. He knows he would get a real chance here while the schools down south are moving towards firing coaches after only a couple of years, in addition the level he needs to reach to be a success here is much lower (delusional SEC fan bases all think their team should be challenging Bama and LSU)
Could you see him ever coming to RU? Seems to me he can be selective and has a bigger job in his future.
Also, his recruiting expertise is not a good fit for RU. Would be better if he had experience in this area or FL.
He would if the money was right. No matter how much a coach says they love a school they love money more. He can certainly be selective but he also can't wait too long or the opportunity will pass him by. Ask Phillip Montgomery at Tulsa. That dude could have jumped ship a few years ago when he was the hot name but now...
His recruiting area was different when he was at Arizona State. He was mainly west coast. When he came to Memphis he adjusted to the recruiting area here. He went from recruiting in the west to recruiting the deep south and Texas.
When he came to Memphis he visited every high school in a 2-3 hour radius of Memphis within 2 weeks of his hiring. He had a face to face meeting with every high school head coach in that radius. I had multiple high school coaches tell me after that it was that meeting that sealed the relationship. It only took 1 visit.
Jersey is different but I feel he'd adjust easily because I saw him do it at Memphis. He would need to bring on someone with Jersey connections.
Yeah I think he knows what it takes, but would be more ideal if he has recruited this area or FL. Kids from the south do not want to come here (except FL), so all those connections would be wasted. He’s also a southern boy, so not the ideal fit. Still think Schiano is the safer bet, but Norvell is definitely up there with Butch.
