Lmfao!!!! You’re competing against yourself for his him. The guy with the 70th ranked defense at Ohio State.
But the 9th and 15th in the two years before that.
Having the 71st was a good reason for Day to dump him. Even though the Buckeye D performed poorly last season , Schiano is still respected as a DC.
Manny Diaz was fired from his Longhorn DC position because of the Texas D looking bad .
But before that season Manny's Texas D was one of the best in the B-12 and ranked 11th nationally in total defense.
He eventually went to Mississippi St and had that unit looking good which led to his being hired at Temple then quickly dumping the Owls to take the U's HC position.
Schiano didn't prove himself after OSU dumped him , but the respect for his ability is still there.
The question is: does Greg still have the passion that made him a real good DC and able to build a program out of nothing when he moved up to being a HC, or has he lost some commitment to putting in the type of effort that made Rutgers Football a respected program from being the joke it was before he was hired.
That question is why Hobbs needs to look at others before just quickly hiring Greg.
Greg might not be the same and without his fiull passion and commitment might be the wrong choice.
On the other hand : if he still has those things and understands the falws that kept him from beiong a great all-around HC, Hobbs might be hiring the right man for the job if he replaces Ash with Greg Schiano
