Sanchez sucked and had no business going anywhere near top 3 rounds let alone #1

He was good enough to bring Jets to the AFC Championship 2 years in a row. Then Rex "What-Is-Offense?" Ryan let offense fall apart before everyone eyes. That's why he got fired. With butt fumbles, pre-season (4th Q) injuries and all other manner of humiliations Sanchez was never the same.

He had a big junior year at USC prior to being drafted. Better rating then either or Darnold's years there. I could see the argument for maybe not being a #1, but "no business going anywhere near the top 3 rounds"? C'mon man.

I really like Eli and appreciate all he has done for the Giants, but how many of those guys are putting a $20MM salary against the cap and are 38 years old on a crappy team with a top 10 draft pick QB behind them? Going back to the twitter outrage.......if guys like O'hara or Warner were coaching the Giants, they would do likely replace Eli as well. What purpose does it serve to continue to play him at this point except if you think he will continue to be your QB beyond this year or you believe the Giants can be a playoff contending team. As it appears neither of those are the case, it does not make any sense to continue to start him even though he is not the main reason the team is not winless and he still may not be ready to pack it in.
But those guys are not wrong about what they said. Our D has been terrible. By the 2nd half vs Buffalo our top 3 WR's were out.

It's true Eli is old, it's true he was never a true elite QB, but man this organization has done a terrible job putting a team around him for forever now. And he was being scapegoated the whole time for it, not by the team, but by fans and media, and now at 0-2, by pulling Eli it sure looks like he is being scapegoated again, even if imo they are doing him a favor by not letting him fall below .500

So if Warner and O'Hara want to get Eli's back via twitter? I'm going to appreciate their sentiment.

Lol have you even looked at his stats he was terrible and had no business being selected in the 1st 3 or 4 rounds. He played 1 yr at USC surrounded by the best players at every position he didn't have to be good everybody was better than him around him. He sucked from day 1 the proof is in the pudding.

I don't think we are really disagreeing on this more than looking at this in different ways. I'm purely looking at this in terms of what needs to be done moving forward. Are you suggesting that they should keep playing Eli and if so, when would you suggest they make the transition to Jones?

In general, most QB's on struggling teams are scapegoated because they are the highest profile and generally the most rewarded (salary) players on most teams. This is not an unusual phenomena.

We agree on the main point of moving to Jones.

But I think the scapegoating of Eli, especially in years past, has been unfair. I think more and more people are coming to the realization that Rees did an awful job building a team around(looking back, should we have not kept coughlin and let him GM and coach?).

And even now, when I think we should move on, I do like that respected guys are coming to Eli's defense.

So main point: Agreement.

Periphery stuff: disagreement. :Annoyed

Fire the DC before they get on the plane. Way too many receivers running free. I dont expect miracles with this motley crew but you have to be able to scheme to fix that.

Jones looks good. I always hear how great Sterling Shepard is but I dont see it. Barkley looks like he's going to be out for awhile with that ankle brace

. Now if we could jusy get rid of the Barber brothers/ Bucs lovefest in the booth. One Barber played for the Bucs the other hates the Giants

Lol - Jones plays one game and Tiki it raving how much better Jones handles the big city where Eli struggled. Going to look for the calamine lotion and put some on my speakers

I don't know if the Buc defender just rag-dolled Nate Solder but it was very close

Even the defense is making some hits and plays. Most entertaining NYG game in a long time

[roll]And the Bucs kicker wins it for us. We've been on the other end of quite a few of those.
