Lance Leipold is the real deal but some snooty Rutgers fans won’t have a former div. III coach as Head coach. No matter that the guy has been super successful as a HC at every team he has coached.
The same way KC Keeler wasn't good enough for Rutgers because only only went to 4 straight D3 finals and won only 1 FCS title, Lance Leipold 6, D3 titles and his work in Buffalo in their D3 facilities is not good enough for Rutgers.

If no Schiano happy to have him. Proven winner at two places with head coaching experience and does need on the job training.

I’ll take Leipold over Greg. One guy is doing the job right now while the other guy isn’t doing anything.

You didn't watch that game for sure. Buffalo was up 10-7 at half, outgained PSU (429 to 357) and had more first downs (22 to 14). Penn State's superior skill players broke several long plays in the 2nd half to run up the score, but Buffalo played very credibly.
Nope, you’re right, I didn’t watch it. All above may be true, but that final score wasn’t a score or two.

What Pikiell has shown is you need someone who has been a HEAD COACH before, no more assistants to try to learn on the job at RU, and a proven Winner HC at that ... either Schiano or Leopold would be fine
Chip Kelly says hi. And I don't give a **** about this comeback last night.

I feel obligated, in this thread, to point out that Les Miles lost to WVU by 5 points yesterday.

Schiano lost to them in Year 1 by 73.

Just sayin...

In basketball I agree with you cause that's how most hires get made as opposed to assistants..in football you see both coordinators and previous HCs have success/failure and I don't notice any big diff in results therefore I don't like narrowing down the pool of candidates. You can have your preferences, perfectly sensible, but it doesn't mean the results are any different overall.

Leipold just gets wins. Last year Buffalo threw the ball all over the place and now they pound the ball and control the clock. We would be lucky to have him as our coach.
wow, thats great a 55 year old lifelong Div3 guy is 2-2 at Buffalo!
Hard NO.

Rather have that quirky coach who will get the players with his 144-77 and a national champ than a moody 67-66 coach who couldnt win the weak Big East with "all the talent he brought to Rutgers."

8 time D3 Finalist vs 0 time BCS participant who would drop Rutgers at the drop of a hat.
the guy is such a hidden gem,and it 55, NO POWER 5 school has even sniffed this guy??Come on your smarter then that.Cant settle for this type of Coach.
Do you really think a recruit will come to RU because 55 year old Lance Leipold ,a Div3 legend and "Buffalo" coach is recruiting him?
Not a name to move any recruiting needle, for a program starving for juice right now.
No thanks.

Trust me, the takeaway for someone watching wasn’t that PSU killed them. It was more “Buffalo played pretty well, but PSU just had some athletes at the skill positions that were able to break some big plays and make the score look a lot worse than it was”.

I had bet PSU laying the points and thought of it as one of those lucky covers that don’t come around often enough to make up for the bad beats!

On a related note, we used to laugh and make fun at the Attendance at Temple home games. Now they probably draw the same or more than us. The atmosphere in Piscataway sucks now.
