Rutgers Athletics staff are moving into the new RWJ Barnabas Center as we speak. This is finally happening, decades after it should have, but we finally have it. To me, this isn’t just about the Sports Medicine department, wrestling, gymnastics, and both basketball teams, but it is a HUGE sign that we have gotten ideas off the drawing boards and can show high school athletes, coaches, and general sports fans, that we are serious about having sports programs AND will support them in real ways, not just talk.

I had no idea you were so excited about this new facility. You should post more often about it maybe start of thread specifically about the facility. Maybe Rich will pin it to the top of the message board.

Russ, if I start any more threads about the RWJ, they are going to ban me from the site. lol Let’s just say, I have been waiting since 1976 to see us get our act together in athletics, and despite the mess that Kyle Flood left our football program in and Coach Ash has had a lot of trouble rebuilding to the Greg Schiano days, I think we are finally turning the corner. In the meantime for football, I have adopted my nephew’s Gators as my second team.

Well if he's still got interest in a good business school, Coach can show him how far he'll have to walk from the practice facility to where some of his classes will be. Let's hope that the relationship continues to develop between him and the staff.

My experience with the snowbirds is that they do the Florida and New Jersey cycle for a five to seven year period and then eventually sell the New Jersey house. Their idea of cold changes and at some point, they just decide it doesn’t make any sense to have two houses. They decide to endure the Florida heat over what they now perceive as cold in the New Jersey late Spring and early Fall. If severe health issues come along they go to assisted living and nursing homes in Florida or back to New Jersey depending on where their children and grandchildren are.

I don't think he's a shooter but good in transition. I think he's closer to 6'0 than 6'2", but that was a couple of years ago. I like some 2021 targets a lot more than 2020 guards out there.

Florida real estate taxes are modest. I have a 2-bedroom condo on the beach. $2678/year real estate taxes. My taxes in Long Valley NJ were $13K/year for a 4-bedroom home. No sewer, no sidewalks, no street lights. You can’t make this stuff up. Folks from the Midwest laugh out loud when they hear the local real estate taxes in NJ.

I just root for an alligators to eat the dumb snow birds that get out of their cars to take a pic of them.

Fla has no income tax and low property taxes. NJ taxes suck! It’s way too hot and humid in Fla. Don’t get sick in Fla because the Drs and hospitals are Sub par. Autumn in NJ is beautiful. Unlike, NJ you can play golf all year round in Fla. Edge goes to Fla because of golf.

Florida simply sucks. No redeeming value whatsoever. Zero culture, horrible, hot and humid weather, no snow ever, no hills, crappy beach towns, huge insects and full of old people simply waiting to die. If my parents and sister didn't live there, I'd never go back.

Florida is awesome. It has the only major American city founded by a woman (Miami).

When it rains it doesn't last long & it's usually 15 degrees cooler after the storm.

St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied settlement of European and African-American origin in the country.

The diversity of wildlife and nature in Florida is cool. Snakes? Got em. Bears? Got em. Gators? Got em. Incredible birds. Even more wildlife in the amazing Everglades.

Culture? Plenty of opportunities to learn about the Seminole Indians. Also the Morikami Museum, in Delray Beach, is an educational museum that is also has a beautiful Japanese garden.

With regards to food: Oranges, Key Lime Pie, Conch Fritters, Florida Stone Crabs, some of the biggest and best oysters in the country are found in Apalachicola, Cuban food oh and the first Hooters opened in Clearwater.

Yes, it gets hot but that's why air conditioning was invented. I'm done with snow removal and driving in snow. F that. No hills? LOL seriously? That is a complaint? The entrance to my subdivision is at the bottom of two hills.

Probably the worst thing about Florida is the New Yorkers who move here. Fortunately I live in a part of Florida where most of the transplants are from the midwest.

Been to Florida several times, and definitely not anywhere I'd want to live. Lived in Georgia for a few months, and also not anywhere I'd want to live long term.

Biggest issue for me is climate, though. Too hot, too humid. I basically hibernate in summers in NJ as it is, so living in a state which is almost a perpetual NJ summer is not my idea of a good time. And I'm more heat tolerant than my wife is. If given a choice, we'd probably pick a vacation in Alaska over one in Hawaii 10 out of 10 times.

We basically see FL as a vacation spot for the late fall, winter, and early summer, and even then to visit things that are only available in FL (like Disney World).

But I know we're not like most people.

I don't think it is very humid here. I think the humidity I grew up with in D.C. is MUCH worse than anything I've experienced in Florida.

I've lived in Houston and the humidity there is dreadful. If you get caught in the rain it is like wearing a hot towel on your back the rest of the day. Had a 7 a.m. tee time and by the 5th hole my whole body was wet due to the water evaporating from the grass. You could almost see the moisture in the air. It made the course play long because of the distance lost during ball flight.

Definitely humid compared to my comfort level. From what it looks like online, most of FL is about 10-15 percentage points higher in humidity than northern NJ - and NJ's humidity is is already enough to keep me mostly indoors during summer months.
