With UVA winning a national title, the timing of Buzz Williams’ departure is genius on Buzz’s part. Class warfare in the state of Virginia, Va Tech versus UVA.

I get what people are saying, and of course he wanted more money, but he is also from Texas, no?

Smart move because A&M will probably have a similar roster to tech next year but he will have at least 3 years to build it up.

Buzz is a master of knowing when to leave and collect the bigger check
Many successful coaches know when it's time to move on to a better job and/or more money.

Then there are those that use interest in them to secure a bigger paycheck and extend the years
the program is obligated to pay them.

Coaching is a profession that being a success at one place has other programs wanting you.
Can't blame Buzz for moving to TAM and the state he grew up in.

Except he left before they won a national championship. He was basically gone before the tournament even began.

And the moment Billy Kennedy was fired at TAMU everybody except the deadest of the Die Hard Hokies fan new Buzz was going to TAMU.

Also it's always been class Warfare between those two schools. Virginia is the smug elitist School and Virginia Tech is the hillbillies in the mountain and engineering, science & agriculture kids.

Knowing that his team is second fiddle in Virginia with the likelihood of it remaining that way for the foreseeable future was another reason, but not the primary reason, why it made sense to move on.

For the most part UVA & Va Tech didn't recruit the same kind of kids. With Buzz in Blacksburg they had a chance to be competitive with UVa on game day.

Bottom line is that Va Tech was always a temporary spot for Buzz. Whenever TAMU opened he was going to be gone. Va Tech could have won the championship game and he still would have taken TAMU.
