I like Brandon Nimmo, but the strikeouts are too much especially for a leadoff guy. He needs to sit more than a game to clear his head and work on a few things.

Wasnt he 3-4, hitting 8th Friday and 1-2 hitting 4th yesterday? Keep him down in the lineup for now.

Season is over. They rather keep Vargas than sign a pitcher or two who can help them now. Why bother?
That is an overreaction worthy of a Rutgers message board. Vargas is getting one more start. That's all we know at this point. Let it play out.

Would I like to see the Mets sign Keuchel? Sure, why the hell not? Ain't my money. But if it were, I'd think twice about giving him the $18M (minimum) that he's holding out for. He's good, but not that good.

We root for the Mets. To paraphrase Hyman Roth, this is the team we've chosen. We chose them knowing that they aren't big spenders. Budget limits have been reached, and that's pretty much that. Much like in the real world.

Wanna be mad about something? Be mad that BVW blew his allowance on Jed Lowrie.

Right now, can’t get all that mad at BVW. Broxton and JD Davis are doing well, he kept both Alonzo and Smith up in the majors, he “didn’t” trade McNeil or Nimmo.

The question is WHY ARE THE METS SO CONFIDENT ON VARGAS? Dont give me that "second half of the season" crap, when he pitched well when the Mets were out of it. Once again just like last season, he has proven that he cant pitch when the Mets need him the most. But lets keep throwing him out there to waste the whole bullpen because he cant get out of the first inning.

You mean the JD Davis that some in this thread were calling to be shipped back to wherever he came from just a week or two ago. I think he has promise. Strong and hits the ball hard. Also young enough to still have upside. Something we definitely need from the right side.

Davis bat may come around which would be great but he is a pretty awful fielder.

I think Kimbrel might be better than Keuchel. We could then stretch Lugo out and his put him in as the #5.

I cant see Kimbrel signing on for a 7th or 8th inning gig. He'll hold out for a team looking for an upgrade at closer of which there are sure to be some come May and June if not sooner.

I never thought I'd say this after last season but I definitely have more faith in the Mets offense than their pitching right now.

Besides Matz every single starting pitcher and bullpen piece from last year is worse so far.

This team is so not clutch. After they are eliminated from the playoffs, I am sure they will have a great September just like last year.

What are the chances the Mets win tonight's game?
My confidence level is such that I'm no longer watching tonight. Saw this scene too many times last year. Just a question of who will give it up. Hope I'm wrong. But just not in the mood to have my night end this way. I'll read about it in the morning.

So far, Ramos is a great pickup compared with Realmuto.
Harper with 3Ks, Hoskins with 4Ks tonight, both batting .268. Harper bating .167 over the last week. Good timing for Mets. Let's hope it continues.
