UNLV player, 6'7"
Stats: 10.8/8.8/2.0 with 44.3% shooting

Would be a nice get. Any thoughts?

Would be a sit out transfer and still allow Rutgers to bring in one more player next year along with Mulcahy.

May be a good fit if Pikiell plans to speed up the tempo in the future.

Believe grad transfer. Immediately eligible. 2 years juco prior to an injury during his two years at unlv

You are correct. I looked at his 2017 Rivals page and thought he was a HS senior, but, he was at Hutchinson Juco....same school that DeShawn Freeman came from.

With Eugene at the 4 and Harper at the 3 spot. I'm not sure we need this right now.

I think he's a take if we can get him.

At what spot? This guy is a starter.

This is a time where I agree with what FIG always says....he should not take minutes from Harper at the 3 and Eugene is entrenched at the 4 with Carter as the backup.

My view would be different if he was a 40% 3 point shooter.

I usually don’t chime in on these discussions, but I would take this guy in a minute! 15 points and 10 rebounds in his first year at UNLV while shooting 64%? Did you see the way he moves on the court in that video? The only way I would pass is if it would be at the expense of someone like Massoud. Against their toughest opponent, Nevada, he shot nine for 11 and had 12 rebounds. If the staff has a chance at him and passes they will lose a piece of the stock that they have built up IMHO. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/shakur-juiston-1.html

The only real “can” question: Can he upgrade our roster at any position?

We currently don't have a 12th ur 13th guy on the roster, so inherently 'yes.' If you mean as a starter, I doubt we get any grad-transfer that does so, and if there was one that was "close" I'd be worried about the impact on chemistry

I don't know about needing him but he's a better player than EO. EO is a nice defender and posts up well for his size, but this kid is bigger, more athletic, quicker with the ball in his hands, and has a mid range game. I'd take him, a five, and hope like hell Mathis becomes a better shooter. Look at his crossover at about 19 minutes - sold me.

Forget the five. We need shooters/scorers!

He’s not bigger than EO. Looks about the same height, but he’s not as thick/muscular as EO.

But he IS a little quicker and seems to be a terrific shot blocker. And yes, the highlight reel showed him hitting mid-range jumpers.

I don’t think he’s “better” than EO. They’re very similar players actually, with the above noted differences.

I would take him in a heartbeat, as he would make the team better.

Part of Juiston’s departure from the N.J. area was to distance him from his previous N.J. setting. Would be an interesting story if he returns and things work out.

I doubt he helps this team win more than EO.
