Most every interaction with Villanova fans has been unpleasant. Arrogant pricks.

Got my law degree from Seton Hall, and coach is a Pat Hobbs hire. Go Seton Hall.

WTF with the woman/girl screaming every time Seton Hall takes a shot. Pity the person sitting next to her.

Wtf was that halftime interview with the Villanova player paschal on FOX? I never saw that before in a college game . The kid was out of breath from playing and just wanted to get to the locker room. Super awkward.

I don’t like this league. But there has been some entertainment in this tournament. It’s been much better than the BIG tourney .
I miss the old BIg East tournament every year .

Great game. Tough way for seton hall to lose on a pass off the backboard . Seems like a way we would lose .

I am really starting to like the B1G more and more.

Interesting to post that tonight. The Big east tournament has been lively and entertaining . The garden has been electric . It’s been a much better tournament than the BIG. That was a great championship game tonigh and last night you had good games . And I hate both of these teams .

If you are referring to the last play with .4 seconds left, I wouldn't call that a tough way to lose. More like a prayer that wasn't answered.

Good game sure. Let’s see how the B1G final is. The big east without us, Syracuse, Georgetown, UConn etc is not the same for me.

Every tournament has great games. Each year since we have been in the B1G and we get to know the other teams, players, and coaching staffs better I am enjoying watching the league.

Well, Powell just missed a tough shot . Then it would be nice to have at least gotten a shot off. Just a tough way for seton hall to lose .

Sure the Big east is not the same . But still a fun tournament to watch .
As for our rutgers angle, it doesn’t really matter too much. We’ve been a complete non-factor in both leagues and tournaments.

As are most tournaments. Many teams in the new BE i couldn’t care less about. I prefer the B1G style of play.

At the beginning of the game the announcers mentioned that Jay Wright is in his 18th season. And all I could think was good god we’ve sucked for a long time.

Waters , hill, Rice, Jordan , pike .
Did I miss anyone in those 18?

This was a great game to watch. This BE tournament is much more entertaining than the B10 tourney. While there are many benefits for Rutgers
from being in the B10, it would have been wonderful to continue the BE rivalries with Seton Hall, St.John's, Nova, Syracuse and Pitt. There is nothing like these games at the Garden.

Wow, 18 years. When listing all the "what ifs" in the history of RU athletics, I'd put this one at #1.

It was so close to happening. Mulcahy had met with Wright on a Wednesday. The deal was all but closed, except that Wright wanted to meet with the RU Chancellor first. That meeting was set for Sunday. But on Friday, Steve Lappas resigned and Villanova immediately targeted Wright. They contacted him on Saturday. On Sunday, Wright blew off his RU meeting to meet with Nova, and the rest is history.

I miss Big East basketball. The end of that conference as we knew it was really the end of my interest in college basketball.
The old Big East also had football schools which made it so enjoyable and successful.I miss the local rivalry games and seeing some of the top teams/players in the country playing at the RAC.I don't get the same feeling with the B1G teams.

A couple of years ago, when Villanova was going to one of its Final Fours, someone wrote an article about Wright to Rutgers what if's. One of the sources the author talked to said that Wright probably would have gotten to a bunch of Tournaments with Rutgers, but would have then jumped to a bigger job. Which means Rutgers would have tried to keep the continuity and likely hired head Coach Fred Hill, Jr.

I couldn't find that article (I think it was in the Record in 09 or whenever Wright went to his first Final Four), but this one by Carino is both fun and painful: https://www.app.com/story/sports/co...wright-rutgers-what-might-have-been/82581616/

Probably, but going to tournaments is fun. Just like going to bowl games with schiano was fun. So hill would have been the Kyle flood .
Also, there is not guarantee that wright would have succeeded here. Early on Gary waters was beating wright’s Villanova teams. If wright got off to a bad start at Rutgers he may not have recovered .

Not denying any of that, just pointing out the irony.

I know. I think we would all rather be good and then suck ...as opposed to just sucking continuously .
At the end of year 3 of waters and wright there were rutgers fans running around MSG happy that we had waters over jay wright. And that’s the truth.

BE has had great games almost every year at the tournament but people are mistaking a competitive or close game with higher caliber play.

Powell is a extreme shot maker but there's been an assumption that the basketball makes the venue.....MSG is the Big East tournament more than anything else. It's a tremendous location and centerpiece. It would do well with almost any regional conference tournament there.

There are non basketball fans that can always find a reason to go to MSG, regardless of the product on the court. The Knicks have sold out for decades without a pulse towards the playoffs or winning.
