agree they should have been there earlier. But like I said things happen.

Happened for the Minnesota game, too. One scheduling snafu is "things happen"... two is just poor planning. For a game of this magnitude (sell out, senior night, rival, win gets a tourney bye), you HAVE to work it out that the recruits are there for player intros and there isn't just a giant empty section well after tipoff.

What was premature? Made no prediction or assumption.

At the time I posted..they looked pathetic. I’m not sure why it was stupid to say that

I edited my post, I misinterpreted your posts. apologies!

While that’s true..again I just think too big of a deal was made out of it

WHAT THE ****??!!

It was for the football recruits. They should have had them there from the beginning but I guess they need to make a grand entrance.

Once again, the overall crowd was tremendous.

Can you imagine if they would have introduced Chris Ash at one of the timeouts? That might have been an ugly scene.

Best of Luck,
Groz

If we are talking about the section behind the band, the only group I saw sitting there in the first half were the kids involved in the half time drum show. That needs to be filled with students.

Too many seats not going to the students. Poor planning.

Looks awful. Bad perception AND Could have put another 400 students in that section who would be up on their feet in the other teams face the entire game. Pure stupidity.

When I was coming up from the hospitality to my seats, they were checking all student tickets to make sure they had seats down there. I had not seen that in many moons.

Meh, 5 rows for the recruits and football staff

What's worse was the RU fan who had a few Pen St fans with them in the pricey 118 seats

Because they didn't want students who were banished to the 300 level from sneaking into the student section because we had already wasted 10 rows (not 5) on our football coach AGAIN who doles out a bunch every freaking game and gives to recruits and their parents who look like they'd rather be anyplace on earth but there. And of course all of the Drums of Thunder kids. Freakin' Ash.

We’re there actually any students in the 300 level? Where all of the “extra students tickets” that were released?

Ash got applause from about 5 total students when he walked by with all of the recruits behind him.

Meanwhile hundreds lined up in 25 degree weather for Pikiell bobble heads.

Ash has some catching up to do.

I believe so. There was a group of 4 students who found a few empties in 206 right in front of where I was. I asked them at halftime if they were students and they were (they looked really confused when they walked up to 300s as the game started, you could tell they didn't want to be up there). I doubt they gave out a lot but at least this group was given 300's and forced to make their way up there. I'm also gonna guess some others were clever enough to find a way to get back in the usual section. That's not difficult to do.

lol @ “banished”...we use to PACK the 300 with students for games which was part of the ridiculous atmosphere back then (late 80’s to early 90’s)...ohhh the noise and stifling heat up there lol!!

Stupid thread. They are always going to reserve seats for football recruits at games.

306 was empty so I sat there with my virtual ticket. Pretty sure they put students there and they sat anywhere but there.

Fine giving seats to football recruits - but the football staff has to work it out that the recruits and their families arrive before tipoff, especially for more marquee games (sellouts, senior night, postseason implications, etc)

I get giving seats for football recruits ... I have always wondered why the band sits in the section it does? I would seat them in section 109 since that is closest to the opposing team ..

We used to sit in the middle... and there were more than a few words exchanged with visiting male cheerleaders. Don't know why they were moved over to the side, but that was after 2000.

Actually, it’s much better to do what they are doing. Get the public settled in first. Then, they avoid all the traffic plus it helps get the recruits seated without any issue with all the pre-game chaos and people screaming at them. VIP entrance. Win-win.

VIP entrance? No one is paying attention to them, because they're focused on the floor - they started to filter in at the 14:00 min mark of the 1st half at around 7:16 pm. If they wanted a VIP entrance, have them come in before player intros and announce them over the PA to cheers from the crowd.

As it is, the game starts with a large swath of empty seats at courtside every time the camera pans to that side of the court, and the recruits miss player intros and tipoff. Seems silly to me - especially on a night billed as a "sell out senior night crowd"

Fine in bringing recruits to games but every freaking game? Come up with some new ideas, Ash. Schiano used to have a game or two where he brought recruits and they made a big deal about it. With Ash, it’s pathetic. He sucks, sorry.

Has it been every game? I haven't really noticed until last night.

Recruits can’t be announced. VIP meaning that they were “escorted” in through a side entrance in an organized fashion to seating that was designated solely for them in a sold out arena. That’s special. It’s not a grand entrance. They don’t necessary want eyes on them. Also, people are sophisticated to know when they see an empty area like that it’s for recruits. Usually, it’s corded off. And, we are talking seated at 7:16 with a 7pm tip off? Probably did get stuck in traffic.

I guess I get VIP treatment if I arrive to a play 15 minutes late and have to be escorted to my seat by an usher, too, then.

They were taken to see "most" of a basketball game. I guess it's a benefit to be fashionably late? If they want to trot them in 15 minutes into the game, then switch them to the side where the band is so they're off camera.
