1. Let's get this right out on the table. I outwardly SOBBED when the buzzer sounded. Couldn't get to the game tonight, so watched with my kids. And I SOBBED. Not proud of it, but that FELT like the most heartbreaking, devastating loss I can remember, even moreso than the Iowa 3-point banker (and all of the other heartbreakers we've suffered over the years). Just a DAGGER on top of a GUT PUNCH, and against Penn Freaking State no less. I love this team, but damn damn damn why couldn't we just hit one of those shots at the end??

2. Baker had a rough, rough night, hounded by Wheeler all night, goes 0-10 (0-7) for ZERO points. Not the moment our best, most clutch player should be lodging a clunker. If he hits just ONE of those shots, we win. Just one. And I thought that last three was going down.

3. The game was lost when PSU clamped down on defense in the first half, and they went up by 18 at the half. We were flat as a pancake, flatter than a flatiron steak, flatter than planet earth on a "Flat Earth Society" map. The Not Ready for Primetime Players I guess, now 0-5 in sellout games at the RAC. Once again the moment was too big for us in the 1st half, and team played like they just met each other on the playground.

4. Heckuva rally in the 2nd half, though. Led by Harper's outstanding 2nd half (all 14 points in 2nd half) and Eugene just battling. And McConnell and Johnson with another really solid game too. Just couldn't overcome spotting the Nits that huge lead.

5. PSU's bench absolutely KILLED us. Watkins, Jones, and Bolton combined to go 13-23 from the field, 4-7 on threes, for a total of 32 points.

6. We go 11-23 from 3-pt range against Iowa on the road, and then 4-24 tonight at home. Lots of good looks that just didn't go down. Brutal.

7. Eugene did a solid job on Stevens, who had 18 points but he was only 8-24 from the field. And Eugene scored 23 on the other end, maybe EO's best game of the year.

8. The way we lost this game, with multiple opportunities at the end, so devastating, I don't know if Pike can get the team back up to play Indiana on the road. It will take a Herculean coaching effort to get the team back in the game mentally after this gut punch.

9. Did I mention that this was a DEVASTATING HEARTBREAKER of a loss?

The last time I felt like this was after the very first big ten football game against this same school. Just wasn’t how it was supposed to end. Went home and didn’t get out of bed all day Sunday. How am I supposed to get up and go to work tomorrow like it’s nothing. No moral nothing just sadness

Think about the final few games and then next year. Trading Shaq (a solid contributor) for Mulachy, Young, and a PTBNL, along with everyone else theoretically improving.

That's the reality, but it doesn't really make me feel better. We are a miracle 3-pt bank shot and a failed multi-shot ending from being 9-10 in league right now. The missed opportunities, and the heartbreaking way we lost both of these games, is just soooo hard to stomach. It just makes me sick to my stomach with heart-break.

Just got home, Stevens pushed off all the time. Did it in Wisconsin game. Thought the passing in first half was just horrible.

Yeah, the 1st half was like all of the 1st halves earlier in the season when we would have 8 turnovers in the first 8 minutes of seemingly every game. Just a real stinker of a first half, what the heck happened.

I actually feel quite good about the Indiana game. Our team came out so flat in the first half, and that's what cost us this game. But this team has a lot of fight, and I think they won't allow a repeat of the first half when they play Indiana. I think they come out strong, and take it to Indiana. Sort of a repeat of what we did in Iowa City after Iowa beat us in NJ.

My dog climbed all over me and licked at my face in sheer panic, alarmed that the long, loud guttural sound that emanated from my mouth at the end, might be all she wrote for his owner.

Great comeback, just didn't go our way.

What a pass by McConnell in that last possession before it went to ****. Myles didnt put it up because he didnt catch it cleanly . He knocked the ball towards the baseline then immediatly passed it back out.

Yeah, clear Myles didn't dunk there because he dropped the pass from McConnell.

After McConnell had his runner blocked (I think) Myles and Eugene were both alone weak side and initially they deflected the rebound away from each before Myles ended up with it and had his shot blocked , by Reaves I think

Your comments are spot on because they represent the feelings of fans watching another gut wrenching loss. The first half performance was terrible and Rutgers right down to the last shot of the game was never able to catch up.Too many missed 3 pointers and layups were obvious reasons for the loss but it only required one additional basket for the win.

Sobbed or sighed?

Sighed, I get.

The hole they dug was just too deep.

I think Pike made a mistake starting EO.. he should have come off the bench. The idea being.. if we go down early with more youngsters in.. EO comes in fresh while the other team is a bit tired and he brings hope with him.

We just got down too far.. and when they see the tape of how they played in the first half, they will hate themselves.

Also.. in the final flurry.. one of our guys could have easily drew a foul and been to the FT line. PSU was flying around.. just get in their path and shoot.

I think Harper touched the ball early in that last possession and made the mistake of passing it to Geo instead of making a play himself. Bad move. Of course Geo got it and jacked up another brick.

If you watch the clip of the end game, it certainly looks like the PSU player got Geo on the way by on his pump fake three pointer. The refs really swallowed their whistles this game.
