One of the greats. Just not enough words that can be said.
Besides baseball he was 52-16-4 coaching Montclair State football.
I remember Eric Young advocated Coach Hill for RU's football coach: "He could motivate a rock." RIPBesides baseball he was 52-16-4 coaching Montclair State football.
Great athlete. Great Coach. Great Guy.R.I.P.The baseball coach in case anyone else was confused by a vague title.
i spoke with Coach Hill about that. He DID apply for the FB job when Frank Burns was fired. Told NO.RU FB would be at a different level today if he had been hired.I remember Eric Young advocated Coach Hill for RU's football coach: "He could motivate a rock." RIP

He could have taught the current staff a thing or two. RIP.I asked Moose about coaching football during the Shea era.
He looked at me, laughed...and said.
“I can tell you one thing, you wouldn’t see a false start or an offside on Saturday’s.
And if the game was close in the last 3 minutes of either half, we’d have 3 time outs to use”
If you never saw a Fred Hill ran practice, you missed a memorable learning experience.
RIP Moose
