1) total team effort, geo and eugene did basically nothing in the first half and absolutely no problem.

2) we are a bubble team next year. Our freshman are already capable of carrying the team if need be and they will only get better.

3) we are straight up better than iowa. Not much more to be said, we are objectively speaking better than a lock for a tourney team this year (iowa). Weve outplayed them 2 straight games.

4) ron harper needs to play 30 minutes a night. Very good defender and an extremely smart player on the offensive end, does everything well.

5) Issa? Wtf. Where did that come from. This was the first week in like 3 months he posted videos of him shooting 3’s on instagram while talking about how good he was and it showed. Confidence matters.

We are a bubble team next year. Dont @ me @bac2therac @Greene Rice FIG

One word for tonight’s performance:

ONIONS

We put Iowa on the canvas early and didn’t let them up. Every time Iowa started to get back in the game, somebody stepped up and made a play.

Just an incredible, dominant performance in what can be one of the most hostile environments in the Big Ten.

RAC must rock Wednesday night......keep foot on the gas and keep pushing the ball.

Iowa looks to be on fumes.....the defensive pressure RU placed, got duplicated by Maryland, then Indiana and again vs Ohio State.....teams are forcing Bohannon to REALLY work and it's taken Iowa out of sync.

I am not ready to state RU is better than Iowa but the last 3 matchups have made RU look very comfortable on the offensive end.

Thiam's best game last year was 80-64 win at the RAC vs Iowa....Iowa's defense lacks the footspeed and athletic ability to slow things down, if you have players.

Enjoy this BUT do not jump the gun....we have work to do Wednesday night and it will require another 40 minutes and RAC crowd.

Get there and be loud from the opening tip....this staff, roster deserves a standing ovation hitting the floor Wednesday night....let's push them forward vs PSU.

I love that it was on senior night. When Iowa made the schedule they said “make Rutgers senior night. We’ll kick the **** out of those guys “.

Senior night is always the last home game of the season, and the conference assigned the schedule. So, it was still sweet to crush them on Senior Night, but it's not like homecoming in football.

lol even factoring the tourney I'd rather be us than you. Your team is soft and slow. Your coach sucks and is silly going after the only thing you've got going for you... the big ten refs.

Next year wont make you less soft or less slow.
Word. Were straight up better than iowa. I PRAY we get them in the big ten tourney. Such a soft team

We are 100 percent a better team than Iowa. Should've swept them.
Iowa hasn’t been playing good the last couple weeks. Rutgers was better tonight playing it’s best game of the season and congratulations but saying the team is is 100% better than a top 25 team with a 21-8 record is a bit of a stretch. But how Iowa looked tonight I can see how you might think that.

3 straight games we have shown we are way better than Iowa. They make 3s so they’re bound to beat a lot of other teams but our defense they have trouble answering and that’s 2 blowouts in 3 games as well.

I know, it’s really saying something that a sports team that won a game against another team is better. Isn’t that what sports is actually? Make you “power rankings” or whatever you want and post them on your blog. Moral of the story is 2 of the last 3 games were blowouts by RU

Tonight and the last game but fair enough. It just makes me laugh that your fanbase goes around thinking the refs have it in for you when it's the opposite.

So it’s a coincidence that we are Sr night for both Iowa and Indiana? Not one, which is the average, but TWO teams?

I don’t think our fan base thinks the refs. have it in for them. Fran’s teams don’t play in your face defense that’s why so many teams score so many points against them. They play not to foul and play to get fouled.

For Rutgers to score 86 points without major scoring from Baker and Eugene is a telling sign of a team learning to win in other ways.Harper was outstanding with the 3 pointer and drives to the basket.Thiam scores 13 points which is one point more than his prior season total of 12 points.Rutgers making 11 three pointers just shows the importance of that shot in college basketball.Rutgers winning 3 road league games is another sign of significant progress.Rutgers earning their 7th league win on the road against a ranked opponent is just amazing .Kudos to the team fora great team win.On to Wednesday and Penn State. The RAC will be the place to be as the fans storm the court after Rutgers 8th league win.

There are plenty of teams that Iowa matches up against better than RU. We are not night-in, night-out top 25 yet -that's even at our current quality level of play. It was a fantastically well played game but don't discount that Fran was watching from the office TV.
That said, next year (and as an RU fan I've said "next year" way too many times) we are a top half B1G team and better than just a bubble team. I fully expect to win the next two and one tourney game.

Is anyone else secretly wondering if it is at all possible what combination of magic and happenstance it would take to win the B1G tourney?

Thanks for your reasonable thoughts. But look at our last 11 games in B1G. We are a completely different team with different players. You guys got beat by 4 freshman with 4 upperclassmen.

And I’m convinced both those B1G schools, and only those two B1G schools, pay the refs. If we had legit refs, we would have won by 40 tonight.

Fran has got some balls complaining about refs with that soft-*** team he has.

I'd rather be one and done in the NCAA this season than fighting for a spot on any postseason tournament bubble. They had a better season for sure even if they do lose their next four games, unless we sweep from now to the B1G finals and steal an at-large bid (or just win the tournament at that point). Odds are long on that happening for us.

That said, I wouldn't trade our program's future or head coach for Iowa's right now.

Pump the brakes on being a better team than Iowa but we were surely the better team head to head this year (and last year). That's a start.

I've said it before and will say it again... this is one of my 5 favorite RU teams of all time.

Why the f$ck are we pumping brakes?!? Do you see what is happening in the games. We were better than Iowa. And Jerry Carino said that a few days ago during the On The Banks podcast, that we are better than Iowa. To repeat, before our win at Iowa, he said POINT BLANK, we are a better team than Iowa.

Deal with that.

1. remember Minnesota and Purdue without Eugene....now flash forward to today with Eugene hobbled and not really being a factor, bam we win on the road by double digits...growing up huh

2. maybe

3. at this point in the season, I agree we are playing better than Iowa. Overall they are still better, going to the NCAA and have a better win.

3. I trust Pike, after some missteps early, he has done a masterful job at figuring out who to play the most minutes given the opponent. Consistency getting better with all 4 frosh but sometimes less is more.

4. amazing, he did vs Iowa last year so we know its in him, he doesnt have to score 13 a night but a few buckets a night helps alot

5. you are repeating yourself. I agree this win changes expectations for the future because it shows where we are now. Our curently level of play the last 8 games is good enough to make the NCAA from this conference. Each year is different and comes with different variables. I think next year 12 schools will be fighting for NCAA bids.

BTN suggested that Cook might go pro. What's the feeling over there as to whether he'll be back?
Almost unanimously Iowa fans don’t think he’s anywhere near NBA ready. He may decide to play in Europe but most think it would be best for him to stay another year.

From ESPN recap:

Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights, who lost at Fordham and needed overtime to beat Columbia in December, are one of the most improved teams in America. They might win a game or two at the Big Ten tournament.
