How Much Fun Has This Season Been?

I know this board tends to run toward the critical... free throws, referees and so on, but seriously... how much fun are we having? For the past 4 weeks or so, Rutgers has been in every single game. They've won 6 conference games and have a legit chance at finishing at .500. The players are so easy to root for. The RAC is rocking again. Pikiell is such a good coach.

Basketball is fun again.

This season was never not going to be a roller-coaster. As maddening as Fordham was, as worrying as Columbia was, as frustrating as Illinois was, and as heartbreaking as Iowa was, this season has been the most fun I’ve had watching this team in 15 years. Pike still has this ride headed up.

It's not just winning. It's every game. They are playing so hard. They have a shot in every game. Yeah, it was tough when Eugene went down and there were some youthful moments early... but man this year has been fun.

while I'm sure winning just leads to wanting more...............

all I can say is, right now-- what I'm seeing from Pike and the team is all that I ask for........ be competitive, have the talent and desire to win on any given night - be competitive until the end and pull-out some wins no one expected......... and make post-season play are real possibility (at some point not too far in the future)..

They have taken away a lot of my free time because every game is a must watch. A few seasons back, I would often check in midway through the game and only bother watching if it was competitive. That wasn't the case often enough.

Goals for the team coming into the season: Be competitive, play hard, start winning some conference games. Those goals have been met. I’ve been down on RU Hoops for a while (we all have for good reason), now there is hope. Seeing on the court improvement and huge improvement in coaching. You can tell the energy level is way up. I used to watch the games and say we don’t have any Big Ten quality players and we’re totally outclassed. Not any more. We have some good young players that belong, and a coach that can get us back.

Love this team. The proof for me is I wish we played 4 games per week and not 2, as I'm just so psyched for every game. It's so nice knowing we're good and can beat any team on any given night and are going to rarely get blown out.

As an example, I told my gf I was tired when we were in europe this past week so we could go home at like 12:30-1am euro time so I could put on btn2go on my computer and watch the RU/MSU game til 2:30am. I look forward all week and days for these games.

At first I was happy not to dread basketball games any more. But to actually look forward to them is something else altogether. This has been great.

I know we won a few (all of our conference wins?) that we could have lost.
But if we would have defeated Fordham, Illinois, and Iowa...
