I intently count down the minutes till game time on my couch, with full intentions of watching the entire game as I do when I watch us live at the RAC.

But, as I watch, all we do is miss, turn the ball over and the other team scores...lol

I turn the channel and return a few minutes later expecting us to be down double digits, and to my surprise we're tied.

I then watch us turn the ball over, miss shots, and watch the other team score.

Repeat the process it seems all night.???

I have come to the conclusion I'm so nervous and ridiculously critical of every possession, it's impossible for me to watch the game objectively...I"m so critical, unless we execute perfectly, I don't even realize we're playing well.

Insane, I love being an RU fan...the last 5 minutes of basketball games now are just shear madness to watch....so much fun

I used to think the same way but hoops really is "a game of runs"......you have to keep watching because when you turn the channel you miss OUR RUN...you don't want to do that.

I feel your pain. Except instead of changing it, I sit there and keep watching it. The game thread allows me to suffer with fellow-diehards (game threads have been my favorite aspect of the board for ages).

I like to DVR the game and watch on a little delay. When we have a bad streak I change the channel, go back and fast forward. If we played well I go back and watch what happened. I know it’s crazy but these games make me nervous. No chance to do that on Saturday as I will be there in person.

Did you see my "control the anxiety" post in the game thread?

This is so me too zap, lol.

When I watched you guys play. I could only watch you guys bat and changed the channel when in the field lol.

Interesting because I love every moment. Basketball is awesome.

The officiating, missed layups/shots of any nature, turnovers, etc. isn't for the faint of heart - this I know. Finding respite in another channel or page X of the game thread is perfectly understandable to me. ;)

Sadly, this is what MLB has turned into for me (Mets postseason games). Never had a problem watching every second in '86 (even Top 10 of G6 after the HR), but I can't watch the opposing team bat anymore in playoff games.

Yeah 86 was easier giving the pitching and play of Mitchel in left and Knight on 3rd lol.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop must be related to age and east coast.

I am just as insanely intense, but I don’t miss a dribble. F bombs at home, walk away on bad calls for a sec, f bomb and I am right back at it. My wife is almost as intense, occasionally f bombs (that is hot) and screams most of the game.

Basketball is an awesome and intense sport. Go Knights!

I find I am more nervous watching at home than I am at the RAC. I always DVR the games. I start watching, but switch off, I keep track of the score via phone app. Once I know the results, especially a win, I watch the game right after it's finished.

I do switch back now and then, but like Zap, seems like I see the bad spots. I did watch the final 25 seconds live...heart pumping.

I get that, but why does the other team shoot 80% from three point land when I watch...:D
Btw, saved this for you. My dad of 86 passed last April. When clearing out some stuff I came across this and my Mighty Matilda. Matilda was in bad shape. But I grabbed this one plus a whole bunch of Tonkas I knew where MIA.

If you think that is crazy.....read thru a Game Day Thread. A player could have the ball slip out of their hands and some people are ready to crucify him.

Said this to my wife during the Illinois game. Every time I watch, we allow a run. Every time I step away and come back, we’re back in the game. Been this way all season for me. I’m looking to go on Saturday, but...

My wife did the same thing with me until the day we got married — then she lost interest. Now I have to F-bomb by myself.

I find myself in virtually every post I read here. What have we done to ourselves? I hope that each game will be the sign that we are turning it around. Then we win but we win ugly so I am not sure. Then we lose and I am disappointed again. Then we win ugly so there is doubt about how good we are. it is like ground hog day all over again. Go RU.

I'm pretty bad watching on TV. I had to DVR yesterday's game and every time we had a couple bad possessions I'd just skip ahead in frustration. Once I got to the end and we won and it was safe, I rewatched the entire game.

You're not the only one. I have to get up and walk away from the TV a number of times during a game.

Stop watching and the average number of turnovers per game would surely go down.

All this above means is that we are relevant again. After the last 6, 7, 28 years...it feels pretty good.

Do you recall when BJ Armstrong from Iowa shot about 97% from 3 and knocked us out of the tournament by himself. Painful to watch.
Sure do. Was there in Providence. Game tied with ten minutes left and then B J went wild and just didn’t miss. Also the same day that Princeton nearly knocked off #1 seed Georgetown.

Still a great effort. I was there. They needed to play one of their better games to beat us. Jim Valvano went into the locker room to give Rutgers a peptalk before the game.

I love the fact so many of you guys yell at the TV and drop the F bombs.

I always knew I wasn’t the only one.

My wife says, “Who are you talking to?”
(And not just once. Almost every game.)

Who the F do you THINK I’m talking to!?
The TV and the guys on our team (or the refs) who are screwing up at that moment!

And, yes. I KNOW they can’t hear me.
