Good for us, I think.

Unless the sole goal is to avoid last place.

This keeps us ahead of NW by a game.

Maybe we can finish ahead of PSU, Nebraska (tanking), NW (if we can win on the road), and Illinois (will be tougher than NW game IMO).

Definitely good for us as long as we beat PSU at home. That would put us four wins plus the season sweep ahead of PSU in the standings. Here is the Nits' remaining slate:

02/07/19 at Ohio State 7:00 PM
02/12/19 MICHIGAN 8:30 PM
02/16/19 at Purdue 4:00 PM
02/19/19 NEBRASKA 7:00 PM
02/23/19 at Illinois 12:00 PM
02/27/19 MARYLAND 6:30 PM
03/02/19 at Wisconsin 1:00 PM
03/06/19 at Rutgers 7:00 PM
03/10/19 ILLINOIS 12:00 PM

Tough to see five wins in there if we hand them an L. They will be underdogs in their next three plus at Wisconsin and when hosting Maryland. Could beat Nebraska at home, toss-ups vs Illinois. They would need to sweep those three and pull two upsets to leapfrog us if we beat them at the RAC.

Meanwhile, Northwestern...

02/10/19 at Iowa 6:30 PM
02/13/19 RUTGERS 7:00 PM
02/16/19 at Nebraska 8:30 PM
02/20/19 at Ohio State 8:30 PM
02/23/19 WISCONSIN 8:30 PM
02/28/19 MINNESOTA 9:00 PM
03/03/19 at Illinois 6:30 PM
03/06/19 OHIO STATE 9:00 PM
03/09/19 PURDUE 2:30 PM

Our upcoming game with them is huge for trying to finish ahead of them. I expect they will lose at Iowa. If we win at NW, they are two wins back and likely won't be favored in another game this year. Their other four home games are against probable NCAA teams.

I was actually rooting for PSU, because I want to see us finish ahead of PSU, Illinois, Nebraska and Northwestern. For me, that's progress. We probably need to win 2 to 3 more B1G games to do it.

I could never bring myself to root for any State Penn team unless it 100% guaranteed something awesome for R U. Otherwise I’d like to see them never win another game in any sport and for their A-hole cult fan base to suffer terribly!

Wanted them to have a win before we met them again. Now they can stop winning.

February will be difficult for all the bottom tier teams unless they are playing each other. In Rutgers case they will be the underdog in every game until they play Penn State in March.Winning 2-3 more games will be a very difficult because Rutgers simply doesn't score enough points .

NW is the 1 B1G game we gave away, largely due to Eugene's injury. Even on the road, I like our chances. I expect Eugene will control their big who went off on us.

That game pissed me off more than any other this year. Watching Parden destroy us with his left every time and watching Thiam get tons of undeserved minutes as players shot over him. We did give that one away.

Purdue and Minnesota 20X more than NW for me.

Good points. I agree, but somehow, someway I think we can play a team like Minnesota tough and beat them at the RAC, because the Gophers are not as tough on the road as they are at the Barn. I know that Illinois is a very tough out especially at their home, but if we play a tough brand of BB we can pull out a win there. As I have stated in other threads, if we can somehow manage to win 6 league games I will be over the moon because that will really show me concrete progress even though we won't win as many games this year. Anything above 6 conference games is just gravy.

Oh I agree with you, but I'm looking at the bigger picture of our entire conference foes, and I would love to see us end up better than PSU, Ilinois, and Northwestern. I'm looking at the overall progress of our team.

I think better chance of finishing ahead of Nebraska than Illinois

RU with a good pickup with the last available spot in 2019 recruiting would finally have a roster of what I would consider mostly B1G caliber players like Illinois Northwestern Penn State, Nebraska etc. I am not ready to say RU has passed any of these programs on paper, but the month of February would change my opinions of RUs roster and the bottom 4 to 5 teams in the standings this year.

PSU was overdue...they deserved to win last night.

Pardon is really good, we won't stop him but maybe we can try a double team given that they're not a real "make you pay" kind of offense

Even if he is pardoned ...isn’t he still guilty?

The goal should be a first day bye in the B1G tournament at this point. We have plenty of winnable games coming up (albeit on the road which I guess for us means an Everest climb of a chance to win)
