I haven't done this. But I know people who got shingles and trust me, these side effects sounds a heck of a lot better than shingles!

Shingles can be brutal and depending on where it appears and your health it can last for months.

People looking to receive the shingles vaccine now have two options. The Food and Drug Administration in 2017 approved Shingrix. It's the preferred alternative to Zostavax, which was approved in 2006. Both vaccines are approved for adults age 50 and older for the prevention of shingles and related complications, whether they've already had shingles or not. You may get the Shingrix vaccine even if you've already had shingles. Also, consider getting the Shingrix vaccine if you've had the Zostavax vaccine or if you don't know whether you've had chickenpox.

I think when I had shingles I was about your age. I would get the shots but ask a doctor. Again they are very painful so look into it.

My primary care office, Vanguard Medical in Verona, has about 500 patients waiting for the next shipment of Shingrex to come in. If you are thinking of getting it, best to call ahead and ask if they have it, and if not , to get on a list.

The manufacturer has a GIS app that will show you locations and amount of doses of Shingrex in your area. You don't have to wait for your Pimary Care Dr to get it in. I would bet that there is a clinic or a Pharmacy around you that has it in stock. They will schedule you for the shots if they have both available. They will not schedule you if the second one is not on hand to give to you a couple of months later.

I had it but not as bad as many. Mine hurt but wasn't debilitating.

Same with me. Uncomfortable but not really painful. Might have been a shingles-like thing as well.

I had to wait a few weeks for the second part beyond the scheduled time...worth it if you’re 50+

Out of curiosity I put my zip code in, every place that came up was not only out of it, but had a long wait..

Maybe Zappaa can share where he is getting his. PS- I just retired from GSK, the maker of Shingrix, and don't have any pull to get some lol.

Neither of my parents, my sisters or brother have had Shingles, so I don't feel I'm at a high risk, but I did have the chickenpox as a kid. I saw my mother in law and brother in law suffer from it. Shingles near the eye is a danger for blindness.

I used that link a couple of months ago and found a dozen places that had multiple does mostly on or near the Rt#33 of Hamilton and Robbinsville Twp. in Mercer County.

I couldn't get chickenpox even though I tried as a kid. Wonder what's that means for me as an adult.

I checked my local Walgreens in SW FL today. They are back ordered for Shingrix and have a long waiting list for it. Woman said they are not expecting a delivery anytime soon. The local CVS said to expect a June, 2019 availability here.

Damn Snowbirds down here. Getting a Dr appt or vaccine gets backed up pretty good during the winter season.

My doctor was the one who recommended it and as a teenager I remember the hell mom went through...worth the few days of misery!!

My mom had it when I was a kid too. All I remember is the moaning and wailing coming from her bedroom.

I guess I need to see my doctor about the shingles vaccine. Don't want to go through what my mother did.

If you’re mid to late 40s or older I think it is a good move...I’m not a medical professional...but I trust my doc (she’s freakin awesome) and she was blunt in her recommendation. Take that for whatever you think it’s worth (which I’ll concede may be not much)
