Just too young and inexperienced

So many times when we had the ball with a chance to make a move we screwed up. Bad pass (Mathis had a couple), bad shot from in close where it is rushed. Or instead of going glass or rim, it's in between. Bad decisions, etc. These guys we are depending on just aren't mature enough. Just don't make good decisions. It's not an excuse, it's reality. Every time we got it to within 7 or 8, we'd make a bad play - either on the offensive end or the defensive end. Or both.

You can't beat a Top 10 team who is dialed in and on fire when you constantly give possessions away.

This season is like Schiano's 3rd where it was obvious progress was being made but it wasn't showing in the results yet. I can't believe how many layups we got against a Top 10 team. But it's not enough when we miss a 4 footer and they go down and hit a 3 time and again.

If Michigan gets anything less than an A game, they lose. But they came prepared and ready and while we played well, if we both play "well", we have no shot against a team that recruits nothing but 4 and 5 star players. Not yet anyway.

Agree - we needed near flawless execution last night the way Michigan was playing, and that didn't happen. And a lot of those execution issues came from putting the ball at risk (inexperience) or failing to put the ball in the basket from point blank range (partly inexperience).

Even given the fact he'll be a frosh, he'll still a better passing guard than anybody on our current roster. If he can take even a percentage of the weight off of Geo's shoulders, things should get better. Have faith, my friend. Good times are ahead!

After getting home I watched the game, I have to give Michigan’s D credit. Many of the “gimmes” I saw in person were well contested when seen on TV and the benefit of a rewind. I thought this easily could have been a 6 point game. BUT in the end we lost because they really took away our perimeter looks, they contested inside, and they spread us on D (plus they can all score). We had our chances but that is a good team.

That Freshman was 20 years old. I’m sure our Freshman (not the redshirt Frost) are now 19. A year is huge in their development.

I was thinking to myself we could get this win with PM next year... And Young would be a good matchup for Simpson... A lot of little quick guards that I think young will be a better matchup for next year defensively

Agreed. However, even if the majority of these players weren't straight up scorers in college, they have at least average shooting ability. A true leader on offense should make their lives easier. You don't think each of our players knows how much we need scoring and good shooting? Alleviating the pressure on them, should increase their scoring percentages a bit all around I think. At least, I hope.

I agree with this too. Next year's team is going to offer a much different skillset than this years. You need the passer? See Mulcahy. Quick, matchup guard? See Young.

Everybody will have a role and as long as everyone stays put and healthy, the results should significantly improve.
