Seton Hall loses to DePaul...

Very good offensive game by both teams. But the reason for my post, is why can't we get a heady shooter like Max Strus kid for DePaul. He wasn't highly recruited, but he not only shoots really well from outside the arc but he shoots FT well and makes the necessary pass. He makes his team better all around. This kid only got one D-1 offer and that was from Chicago State. He played for Lewis University. It's crazy that this undersized forward at 6'6" could be such a difference maker for DePaul.

This is the kind of kid Pike needs to find even if he turns out to be a grad transfer. This is where Pike has not done a very good job at finding that diamond in the rough.

Very strange that Strus gets mentioned in this situation....he's a nice player that knows how to score but the DePaul roster supports Strus.

Paul Reed soph out of Florida has upside at the forward position and the Long Island kid Femi, is a grad transfer from NC A&T....both kids carried Depaul, mixed with 5th year senior from St Bens, Eli Cain.

DePaul landing Strus is a nice story, but Strus scored a ton of points last year for Depaul and they still finished last in the Big East. This year's roster has better players around Strus, who can be taken away with good defense. The rest of the roster can score now if you don't guard them.

I think they've added an Arkansas, Illinois, NC A&T, Division 2 and last week a St Louis transfer of a Top 100 kid....and a couple of Top 100 kids landed for next year.

Fans don't like to wait but it takes a complete roster of players that can play to win. RU just needs to keep adding complete players and shed the ones that can't play on both ends of the court. The more complete the 5 players are on the court, the better each player looks and can play.

Hawk, I think you missed the point of my post. I understand that Strus is a complimentary player, that would be part of a piece to an entire team. Can you imagine if we had him playing for us in place of Kiss or Thiam? I think we would not only have started better, but I think we could easily be at least 3-4 in the B1G and finish at or above .500. To me that was the point of this thread.

SHOCKING just shocking I tell you that another team is dragged out from the cellar due to transfers. Transfers is the way to go. Not scrub transfer you jump the gun on but rather quality transfers who can ball

SHU has fire power but are sometimes dominated on the boards. Getting the ball in the paint and getting offensive rebounds also usually leads to a lot of trips to the FT line. Both teams shot well -- DePaul's starting front line alone must have scored about 20 from the FT line. [Speaking of which, I still can't figure out how RU got 40 shots in the paint to SHU's 21 and got 27 offensive rebounds to SHU's 8 and still managed to get to line less than half as many times when we played.]

That is so true. SHU guys keep complaining about other teams getting more foul shots than they do but they ignore that they got 32 foul shots to our only 15 when we played them in December. There is no way with all of the height that they have they should get hammered on the glass like they did. Brodie got 0 rebounds in 13 minutes. They have Naz1, Mamu. Brodie & Thompson who are all big guys that played last night. Mamu had 10 rebounds but that was about the only guy who stood out.

Next year we can actually roll out an 8 man competitive rotation

Assuming we move carter to the five spot...you got 40 minutes for carter and Johnson and I can see 12 ppg coming from them. Legit offensive production from the 5 spot

Then...of the other four sports ...26-27 minutes on average for each geo, young, Mathis, Harper, Eugene and Mulchay, only relying on one frosh. You have 6 guys there and four for sure you can say are capable of averaging double digits in that playing time (Eugene, geo, Mathis, ans young)...and Harper, extrapolating his numbers this year for 27 min a game, is scoring 7.5 ppg...and is a
Little development away from being a double digit scorer

We will have a fairly complete roster in year four....can’t underestimate that we won’t need to play kids who are capable of scoring .

I truly expect this team to be a lot better next year....and why the remainder of this year should be for developing for that

He’s an interesting player. I watch a lot of DePaul games, and his showtime dunks and shooting range make you wonder how so many schools missed on him out of high school. Apparently he had a late growth spurt.

He disappears for long stretches of games, and makes head scratching turnovers in late-minute situations, but—like the rest of the team—he seems to be slowly but surely learning how to win.

Might be an underrated defender too; Myles Powell looked about ready to take over the final minutes of last night’s game before DePaul turned to Strus to face guard him; sort of removed him from the offense when SHU needed him most.

That was a good game to watch. Great shooting, DePaul was on point and SHU wasn't far behind. DePaul made something like 29 free throws! Can you imagine how many overtimes it would take us to make 29 free throws in a game?
