Starters:

Shaq/Shaq/Eugene/Geo/McConnell

Bench:

Johnson/Thiam/Kiss/Harper/Mathis

Geo is better off the ball. Happy McConnell has stepped up. Shaq Carter needs to be on the floor. Glad he’s stepped up/Pikiell now sees it.

I am absolutely done with Issa as a starter. Maybe coming off the bench will help.
Carter offers offense, which we need.

I agree. And Issa didn’t start today. It was Baker, Mathis, Kiss, Eugene and Doorson. After our horrible start, Pikes subbed every starter simultaneously at the 18 minute mark.

Don't like Shaq squared at all. They will just get in each other's way and it won't allow for Eugene to work inside. We should be going away from Doorson altogether. He should be providing breathers for Carter and Johnson. This season is crap anyway. We should be developing Carter and Johnson for next year.

No!!!!!!!!

None of those lineups.

McConnell did an excellent job on Quinton Adlesh. He made some nice passes.

Let's not get carried away.

I'm cool with Johnson and Carter. Really nice to see today. As well as Geo and McConnell.

freshman Caleb Mc Connel might be developing into a decent PG
he allowed Geo to concentrate on scoring in the 2nd half

McConnel with 8pts 5rebs 2 steals 2 assts
Carter with 13pts 6 rebs 2 blks

Selecting starters from this group is a little harder than in many other situations because of the inconsistent play, especially on offense, from so many of the newer and younger guys. The same guys who carried us through this one might be way off next week. The one guy I am very disappointed in thus ar however is Kiss. I really thought he was going to be a more consistent three point threat than he has shown.

Doorson still needs to start.

while Caleb has showed some promising signs, I am not sure putting him out there right from the beginning is the best idea..remember today was Columbia..throwing him to the wolves vs OSU is another issue

Here’s how I’d break down the 200 minutes for most of the 2nd half of the year.

Geo- 35
Mathis- 15
Harper- 14
McConnell- 18
Kiss- 20
Issa- 13
Eugene- 30
Shaq C- 25
Shaq D- 15
Myles J- 15

this is a great point...as I have said before the coaching staff is having difficulties finding the right lineups and rotations because such yo yo consistency. I can bet you that they thought they would not have to worry about Kiss and even Thiam but its hurting the team now because it makes the pressure rise on Mathis and Harper to contribute

ITis not a D1A player. Not attacking the kid but he cant hit a swimming pool in games and his shots are like 7th grade bad. They are not a little long or a little short. They are way off....way short, way long. way right or way left

Need to see more of McConnell at the PG and Baker at the wing. Baker is trying hard but he just doesn't have the vision or handle of a good point guard, he is much better off the ball.
McConnell needs to continue to improve ball handling and decision making of course, but I think he is the much better option as the main PG until Mulcahy arrives.

Eugene seems to be taking over for Freeman in that when he gets the ball he takes the shot.
I'd like to see him give it up more often and also not bring the ball up court. Pass it over to the
guards.
I'd also like to see McConnell take the point and Baker be the 2G.

Yes, Eugene is horrible passing the ball on fast breaks. He often makes a wrong decision and/or a horrible pass. He needs to make a simple pass to the wing instead of trying to drop dimes into the paint. Love Eugene but he needs to keep his composure.

Was really high on Issa coming into the season but he’s not producing on offensive side. Admittedly I did not see the game today and would not have a problem with him coming off the bench to light his offensive fire. One thing I find Issa’s detractors missing is his defensive effort and his ability to shut down scorers. His defensive abilities will very much be needed in conference play. Hopefully he can turn it around on offense. Unless he makes more baskets some of his minutes may need to be chipped away.

kiss and thiam not making five three's between them is killer. I'd like to see kiss go to the basket more too.
Kiss and Thiam combined did not make a single field goal this game. Either of them makes a bucket then there's no overtime.

At least for a while yet, we’ll see Shaquille D, Eugene, and Geo as starters. Beyond that it’s anybody’s guess.

Encouraged by what Carter and McConnel have shown. Carter reminds me of an old-school power forward, and Caleb is gaining confidence and learning to use his size to his advantage. Will be interesting to see how he and Geo on the floor together works against better competition.

Issa has been sick the last 2 games, and if he feels anything like I do now with a really nasty cold I understand his lack of offense.
Coach needs to shut him down until he's better. Keep him out of the gym.

Every time he dribbles the ball up the court on the break i cringe

I'm a huge Omoruyi fan, but agree he needs to pass the ball more and better. Trying to back in when double & triple team is killing his game.

The key for Pike right now is figuring out these two things:

1) How many minutes to give each player
2) Which players should be on the court together

As other posters have said, we are getting very inconsistent play from just about every player, from game to game.

The good news is we have guys that Pike can put in as each game unfolds, to make plays and light a spark. We are deep and I trust every guy Pike puts out on the court.
